Good Morning Everyone, It's eclipse day! Will you be seeing it in your area? We'll have about a 90% eclipse here. We've got our glasses ready, and the schools are giving glasses to all of their students. It's slightly cloudy, but I don't think it should block anything, so I'm curious to see what we see. I'll keep you posted. In other news, my mom has Covid. This is the third time she's gotten it. So far, it's just like a bad cold and she may get the Paxlovid later on today. The only place she's been in the last week is her knitting club, so we're assuming she got it from someone there. As my sister said, who knew knitting could be dangerous? We managed to do a bit of yard work yesterday. I'm hoping the new clover and lawn seed takes hold. We're supposed to reach 70 degrees tomorrow! But the rain comes back on Wednesday and Thursday. We've had so much rain that the local rivers are very high. And thankfully, we haven't had any more aftershocks from our earthquake last week. I'm really hoping that doesn't happen again. There are far too many old buildings around here, including my house, that were not built for earthquakes! Now it's your turn. Check in and let us know how things are going for you.

Well, we had our eclipse glasses at the ready, but it was a bit of a bust here. There was more cloud cover than expected, so we couldn't really see anything. The light got very dim for a while, but that was it.
Hope some of you got a better view.

I am sorry to hear about your mother.
The eclipse made this seem like dusk at 3/45 to 4/00. I confirmed that all was well when I crawled out from under the bed and saw the nice sunset developing!

They were expecting about 80,000 people here for the eclipse but after they announced much of the US would have cloud cover, lots of people decided to come to Indiana instead. We even had a guy fly over from Wales just to see it. I don't think the congestion around the city was as bad as I thought it would be because there were so many different venues, the 4H center, the universities, the river front, libraries, churches, etc. The eclipse started about 12:45 and was over at 3:15. I had my trusty glasses and sat in my backyard watching. When it was getting fairly close to totality, my solar lights in the garden popped on. I honestly didn't think it seemed darker than if a cloud had covered the sun but obviously it was. Then totality happened. It was amazing! We could take our glasses off. Some planets were visible. They said we might even see a comet but I didn't. I was thinking yesterday that some of the venues ought to have fireworks for totality. None did, but some neighbors a few blocks over set off some big ones. We were dark for just over 3 mins. I'm just so happy I got to experience it. I saw the eclipse in 2017 but it was only 80-90% coverage.

Beck in the late 70’s I was living in Bend, Oregon and saw a 99% eclipse. I was so sick that day I could not go the 30 miles to view totality. I told myself that if possible I wanted to come to Madras in 2017 when the next total eclipse was coming. My husband and I were able to exsperience the totality. There is nothing like exsperiencing totality. I hope many of you were able to view totality. I was planning on going to Eagle Pass, Texas to view the totality. After all of the news about immigrants and troops moving into that area I canceled my reservation I made 3 years ago. They had a wonderful view of 4+ minutes and I missed it. Instead I was camping in Florence, AZ. I brought my 10 pair of solar viewing glasses and the whole group took turns viewing the 80% we had here. Everyone was thrilled with the view. They had no idea that they were missing the the amazing totality.

They said the next US eclipse totality will be in 2044 running from northern California to Florida. I'll be in my late 80s so probably won't be traveling to see it.
A nearby small town was in a prime location this time. They usually get 2 or 3 planes come in each day but on eclipse day there were 56! It was definitely a boon to their economy and to ours.
I remember in years past doing the pinhole thing to watch the eclipse. It's so much more satisfying to have the glasses. I think 2017 was the first time I had the glasses.
We were lucky to see it. It rained on Sunday, rained yesterday and today and supposed to rain tomorrow.

Eclipse was kinda a bust here so we saw on our TV. Pretty awesome event.
April 8 was our 50th wedding anniversary. We celebrated with local folks. LOL, most of our family and friends are old too and don't travel anymore. Still was very nice.
Tuesday, we went to Milwaukee for a funeral and then had nice dinner and visit with SIL and her husband. We stayed overnight in a very nice Hotel on Lake Michigan. Was a nice couple of days.
Hope you all are doing well!! Sorry about your Mom, Christine. Hope she gets well quickly. Covid is no fun at all.

Thanks for all the well wishes for my Mom. Now, my step-father also has Covid.
Thankfully, they're both doing okay, just a real bad cold. They both started Paxlovid and have started feeling better, but it's my Mom's birthday this weekend, so the celebration has to be postponed. Hopefully, we can do it next weekend.

Great...even though he now has it. Sounds like they don't have some aggressive strain of Covid.
