Happy April Fools and Richard Castle's birthday! Hope you are all having a fabulous week. I can't say my family is into April Fools Day jokes, but it's always good to keep your guard up. We had a lovely weekend. I was able to spend time with my sister and niece before they headed back home. We colored lots of eggs and had a some wonderful steaks on the grill. We also had a picnic lunch with my in-laws. It was a little cool but not too bad. At least the sun was shining. But today it's raining once again, and it looks like it will be, on and off, for most of this week. I can't wait to get some steady sunshine! So, please check in and let us know how you're doing.

Your weather sounds like ours here in western Viginia. At least we are not out digging around in the yard...yet. However, I bet we will be soon enough!

More rain. We were hoping to do some day trips with the dog this week...but it's not looking good.

I hunkered down on April 1st. I really don’t like practical jokes. We had rain for the first time in 25 years on Easter. Lots of family gatherings were challenging this year. When it rain in Arizona it is like snow in the rest of the country. People kind of freak out when it gets wet. I am packing my RV for some back to back trips starting Sat. I was really hoping to be heading to Texas next week to see the total eclipse but I cancelled. If any of you get a chance to travel and view totality please do so. It is life changing. 99% is nothing compared to totality. I saw one in 2017 in Oregon. I was at 99% back in the late 70’s in Oregon. I was sick that morning and couldn’t drive the 40 miles to view totality. I will check in the next few weeks as I go from Florence,AZ to Kartchner caverns, Tombstone, to Patagonia State Park. The last 3 will be with my women’s group as they do a “Rolling” rally.

We had big storms last night. Our house and surrounding trees were fine and we didn't lose power but the surrounding area had a lot of damage and power outages. Less than a 1/4 mile away there were lots of trees snapped off and uprooted and trees across the roads and downed electric wires. I even saw a lady from here on the national news that had all the windows blown out of her car as she drove. They are still trying to decide if there was a tornado or if it was just straight line winds. Fortunately, no one seems to have been hurt.

ibmjas, I never realized that straight winds could be so powerful. But a friend of mine's house is across from a park, so there is nothing to block the wind. During a particularly powerful wind storm, the wind pushed her picture window straight into her living room, frames and all! I'd never seen such a thing.

They decided we had a couple of EF2 tornados as well as winds up to 90 mph. Some people are still without power!

We get " microbursts" here. They have big winds that can hit one neighborhood and skip the next. They have big winds and do lots of damage. We have had 60mph winds the last few weeks coming in from California. I don't like to drive my RV with those winds.

We just had an earthquake! That never happens here. It was 4.8, which by west coast standards is nothing, but is a big deal here. The whole house shook, which is worrisome since it's a 100+ year old house and not meant for shaking.
First thing we did was run to the basement to make sure the furnace hadn't blown up! Then we went outside. The neighbors were all on their front porches asking if we felt it too.
The last time I felt something like this, a house several miles away blew up during Hurrican Ida due to a gas leak. But that was much quicker. This lasted about 30 seconds. Thankfully, there seems to be no injuries or serious damage.
But this definitely shook up our day...pun intended.

Yeah, we're okay. We've had a couple of aftershocks this evening, around a 4, but nothing too bad.
My cousin lives right near the epicenter, about 30 minutes from me. She was working form home, sitting at her desk. She said she could feel the floor shaking under her feet and everything in the house shook, some things fell. She was pretty freaked out.
Fingers crossed, this is the end of it.

Just saw this post. Growing up near Seattle I felt many quakes growing up. Weird feeling for sure. I felt one in Bend, OR. Glad it didn't damage your house.
