What Do You Hope to See in Season 8?

Inspired by shutterbug5269's earlier thread "A Hoped For Interaction"...I'd like to know what you all hope to see in Castle season 8. It can be simply a general direction for the show or specific story or plot points you'd like to see covered. Maybe a scene or discussion you wish two characters would have.

Since you based it on my thread, I figure I might as well be first.

I would like to see Kate get a little more involved in Rick's world.

She's a Police Captain, with possible political aspirations, she's expected to be seen in public with him now.

Last season, during the PI arc, Castle and Kate sorely missed building theory together and it brought out the romance in a big way. I'd sure like to see more of that passion! 

I sure hope we see as much , if not more, of Martha, even if she does move out of the loft.

I want the full story behind Castle's disappearance. It can unfold over the whole season or be revealed quickly. Either way would satisfy me. 

With Kate becoming a Captain, I definitely still want her solving crimes and being a part of the team at the 12th. She still needs to have a reason to visit Lanie and interact with Ryan and Espo. However, I also think she should have to deal with a bit of political stuff too, since that kind of thing goes with the new position.

I think it's time for Alexis to get some direction for her future. She should be declaring a major at college and starting to focus on real career preparation.

I hope we see Jenny and get a glimpse or two of Ryan and Jenny's family.

Since Espo and Lanie decided they weren't right for a serious relationship, I think it'd be fine to have Espo dating someone. We wouldn't necessarily have to meet her.


I'm very open minded about the changes that are coming because I believe we have 2 show runners that totally GET the idea that Kate and Castle need to interact with each other as much as possible. More than anything, that's the key to my enjoyment of the show and I hope they come up with new and creative ways to make that happen within the new parameters of season 8.

By the end of the season Alexis should be graduating. Maybe arc of GREs/LSATs/MCATs, depending on what she decides to do (I can't see her not going to grad school eventually). Could be some good family discussions on whether to go right away & where or take some time off.

I won't lie.

I want to not only see Castle's disappearance resolved for good, I want to see Fake Jenkins put in his place and actually have to make a good faith effort to repair the damage he did to Castle's reputation and relationships.

I'd also like to see Esposito actually have to eat crow for doubting him. He still hasn't let that go, even though everyone else has, season 7 finale notwithstanding.

Nathanfan I would be happy to see what you suggest happen. Shutterbug it seems to me that not many fans were happy with the explanation given for Rick's disappearance? I've just seen I, Witness so I've still got some way to go.

Personally I would like the return of Richard Castle. The charming, mischievous guy. The smart, intelligent, well read man who was able to work out the clues to a case, the guy who was able to 'read' Beckett and tell her why she became a cop. The guy who knew to get her dad's watch fixed, or get her a signed photo of the cast from a soap that she had watched with her mom. When was the last time that we saw Rick give Kate a gift? I would like the 'wise-ass' not the 'jack-ass' bumbling, buffoon that has been recently.

Even if Martha is not living at the loft, I still want to see her. Maybe have Rick remark that he thought she had left because she still seems to be there as often.
I still like the idea of David Selby being the husband that bankrupted her bringing her back the money that he stole.
I would love Martha to have a student that she believes has 'it' who is murdered and has Martha doing her best Jessica Fletcher impersonation. Or a fire in the building next to her school giving the team their murder but with Martha not knowing that she has what the killer was after and ending up in hospital when they come to get it. It makes Rick face the time when Martha will no longer be part of his life.

Just for kicks and giggles, I wouldn't mind seeing Josh comes back for a visit. Even though they're married, I think it might be fun to see Castle get a little territorial around Dr. Motorcycle Boy.

I would like to see suave Rick show up and set Kate's toes on fire and her world ablaze. I want to see why he earned the moniker, "The White Whale."

If motorcycle boy came back I would love him to be the center of a murder investigation concerning harvested organs.

I hate to have an Alexis story be about boyfriends but can't think of anything else.
Ashley to return after they reconnect via social media but he is not the guy she remembers and he ends up being arrested for murder.
Or much darker, a guy that Alexis is crazy about but Rick is anxious about until he finally meets him. Then its Kate who has alarm bells ringing when they meet him. The guy had started to psychologically abuse Alexis but when Espo, Rick and another cop go to question him about an ex-fiancee left with life changing injuries, he has just hit Alexis. This would be the B story.

How about a murder mystery weekend that Paula arranged for Rick to attend. Kate reluctantly goes with him but then has some fun until an extremely bitter and jealous writer berates Rick and his success and Rick finally learns what his books mean to Kate when she defends her husband's talent and success. By the 4th clue they are bored because they know who the killer is but then there is a murder.

But what makes me watch this series is that amazing chemistry between Nathan & Stana. As long as we get to see Rick & Kate together enjoying their relationship as partners, as lovers, as husband & wife, I'm good.

I have been watching season 1&2 the last few weeks. I forgot how much Captain Montgomery was involved in cases. They really backed off on that with Gates. I am going we see a more hands on Captain Beckett. I think she would go crazy if she was stuck doing paperwork.

I'm hoping that Castle will finally get his own gun now that the detective agency is going to be an on going venture. We need him to be safe if Beckett isn't at his side with her extra piece right?

I am wondering if we will see Alexis go into some kind of police work. It would bring her into the lives of the people she has interacted with for many years. I hope her role is more than some new boyfriends.

I think the new investigator that Castle has hired to work at his agency will have more crazy ideas than he does. Castle has worked with the police and learned to follow the law. Now his investigator will want to skirt the laws to get things done. I see Castle in hot water with a certain police captain. I am hoping for some fun banter coming back between Caskett this year.

I would love to see another poker game with the people from the 12th. They were always fun. I know we won't get the author game back.

It'd be fun to have any of the seasons significant guests return, now that Rick & Kate are married. Will Sorenson, Jordan Shaw, even Paula, Gina or Kyra.

I'd like to see more of the early Caskett chemistry that hooked me on the show.I'd like to see Rick as a writer shadowing Kate the detective and all the banter that made the girls squeal and the guys wish they were him. Show me the love wrapped around lots of hot and steamy...
Having a real hard time getting into the mood for Castle PI and Captain Kate.I'm in a wait and see mode I guess.

This probably won't happen but I've always wanted to hear Kate tell him that she broke up with Demming and was about to go to the Hamptons with him when Gina walked in. I'd really like to see Castle's reaction to that.

Also, we've never heard Kate tell Rick what his books meant to her after her mother died. I'd also love for them to have that conversation.

I think at this point it would only cause unnecessary pain.  Kate put it behind her years ago and telling him this now would only hurt him.

Now it would be interesting to see Demming come back, hit on Kate now that she's not Captain and throw that in Castle's face on his way out the door, not knowing he's the one she's married to.
