Hi All, I just got back from a trip to Dallas to visit my 90+ year old aunt and uncle. They're both in assited-living, but my aunt is in memory care where as my uncle is just in regular assisted living, but as they are in the same facility they can see one another often. Their daughter lives just a few miles down the road so she's there almost every day. Overall, it was a nice visit, although it's difficult to see my once vibrant aunt and uncle like this. My aunt remembered my mom, and perhaps vaguely remembered me. My uncle is very frail but still pretty sharp. But I'm glad they're in a nice place and getting good care. We were only visiting for a few days, but I was able to take one side trip. I was a huge fan of the TV show Dallas, so my daughter and I went and took the tour of the Southfork ranch. We've been watching the original series on the Amazon app Freevee. We had fun, and took pictures under the Southfork sign. While we were gone, they got about a foot of snow back home! They were only predicting 3 inches so it was a bit of a shock, but at least it was light, fluffy snow, and the dog loves it. So how was your weekend? How is this week shaping up for you? Check in and let us know.

You are very thoughtful. Going to visit them was a wonderful thing. Dawn and I see our older son and his family often as we live in the same city. We are planning to visit our other son and his family in Minnesota soon. Everyone needs these connections reaffirmed as frequently as possible. And, guess what: Dawn and I have just one week until our 57th wedding anniversary. She is a wonderfully patient person!

I am looking forward to the opening of the new wonderful AZ Humane Society facility this week. It has been delayed for over a year because they could not get the materials needed to complete the building. It is much closer for me than their old facilities. I will be volunteering more for them this year. It is nice to have new episodes of the major networks starting up finally. I have been watching some old shows while I waited. It is amazing how much you forget after 20 years what the episodes were about. Maybe my brain is just forgetting. It 's like watching them for the 1st time again. I had my yard guys pick my lemons and the rest of my tangelo's this week. I think I have finally gotten rid of all but 2 bags of lemons. Those are for the Knights of Columbus Fish fry this week and next. I had a bumper crop, they were just smaller. I even got lots of my tangelo's this year. I love those! My Great grandkiddos love them also. I get great pictures when they open up a box and start eating them.

My daughter and I went to Indy to try and finish up cleaning out the family home. We made huge leaps. My brother had almost enough books to start a library. Quite a few sold at the estate sale but lots were left. We found out the library would take which was great. While there I ran into my first grade teacher! She is so delightful. She's on the board at the library, helps with special needs kids and loves life. She'll soon be 90 and was on a cane but had the same spirit as ever. So wonderful to see her.
We had a dumpster which is our 3rd one but this one was smaller. We filled it up & had the old piano removed. My realtor came over to write up a purchase agreement for my buyer & she bought my recliner & dining table and chairs & may take a bed! It got to where we had nothing to sit on but lawn chairs and nowhere to lay anything except on TV tables. Very productive, but then when we got back home (2.5 hr drive)I realized I couldn't find my wallet. I had a neighbor check and I actually left it up there. Dopey me! Guess I'll go back Saturday.

Well, we did all that work and were all set to enjoy our labors when we both got COVID. I probably picked it up at one of Pete's basketball games. 78 and 80 and it is miserable. Take the worst cold and sore throat you ever had times 3. Currently in quarantine. Will not be in any hurry to do anything til we both feel better. Our daughter is dropping off food we need til we can get out again, Bless Her.

Wow...sorry to see this Covid return for you folks. I am beginning to believe that Covid has become a permanent problem like so many others health threats. Hopefully your quarantine will not be extended.

Yeah, I don't think Covid is going anywhere. The best we can do is manage it with vaccines, like many other illnesses. I hope you can get through it as quickly as possible. I know when my Mom had it last year, she took the Paxlovid and it was gone in days with no problem. But my step-father took Paxlovid and got the bounce back Covid a week or so later. There's really no perfect answer for dealing with it.

Wow, Geezer, I'm really sorry you are both ill. So happy your daughter is able to help. Plenty of fluids and rest and Netflix. Feel better.

PTVJ, I just read that Amazon will shut down Freevee very soon, maybe April. Not much time to finish a rewatch.

I hope you and your wife can use that Paxlovid and get well soon. I am worried I will finally get it as I am out doing so many volunteer gigs. I do see more people wearing masks again. I heard on NPR or somewhere that as soon as your temperature is back to normal you can go back to work 24hrs later. No wonder it is on the rise again.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. It's been 2 weeks and we both have lingering effects. I had a worse case than Rikki. They gave me Paxlovid but not her. Both of us are doing a LOT better. We will finally venture out on Tuesday to get groceries. Last week, I wore a mask and did a p/u. We have been home for 2 weeks and would not of dreamed of going out sooner. I feel the CDC is making a big mistake but we are old and have the luxury of staying home and letting it run its course.
