Hi All,
I both can't believe January is over, and yet it feels like this month has lasted forever. It's just been cold and dreary, but I suppose that's January.
Not too much going on here. Still searching for new jobs and trying to get more writing done.
We did get some very sad news. My aunt's husband passed away from pancreatic cancer this weekend. She's lost both of her sons and now her husband. She's one of the nicest people I've ever known. I don't know how anyone can be expected to survive such losses and go on.
I hope you're all having a good week. Please, check-in and let us know how things are going for you.

Sorry see this comment about the life-trials for your aunt.
Our weather is way beyond weird. It was mid to high 70s most days with one day of 80 last week. Today, the 40s are back bringing the reappearance of strong and gusty wind. Today we are having lingering periods of 10-15 mph with gust up to 25 mph. One big gust almost tipper the dog over as she was bounding around in the yard. There was a startled look on her face. She immediately rushed to the door to come in. It may be difficult to get to go back out 'willing' later.
Tomorrow will be just 200 days until '2024 Great Canada Fishing Adventure' begins!

larryholmes, I feel for your poor puppy. Astrid loves the cold and wind. I have to drag her inside. However, she had some stomach issues over the weekend. Friday night into Saturday, she woke us up every two to four hours because she had to go out. As tired as I was, I'm still grateful she's well-house-trained! It's far better than the alternative.

PTVJ, sorry for your aunt's loss. You hope when you get older you will have the support of spouse and kids. I'm sure it's tough for her. The big eclipse is coming up in April. Quite a bit of Indiana is in the path of totality. The news talks about it practically every day. In Evansville, where I am, total darkness will last just over 3 mins. The max of any area in Indiana is just over 4 minutes. They emphasize how important it is to get to an area where there will be totality. They say hotel rooms are already at a premium and will get even more expensive if you can even find any thing as the date approaches. I won't be going any where since the eclipse is coming to me. How about you guys? Anyone taking an eclipse trip? We just have to hope for sunny skies!

My prayers go out to your Aunt. Dealing with the loss of family is hard. I just cancelled my reservations for the April 8th total eclipse. I got reservations 2 years ago for Eagle Pass Texas. I figured it would be my best chance for clear skies. All I have been hearing in the news the last few months is how Eagle Pass has had thousands of immigrants crossing in that area. I would be alone in my RV so I thought it better to just cancel. My husband and I went to Madras, Oregon for the last one. It was life changing. If you are able to get to an area with totality do it. Two people from my camping group are in the hospital. I know one of them will not last long. His wife has been in denial about how bad he is for the last year. I did an event today. for the AZ humane society called a “ Cuddle bunch”. We bring cute puppies for people to cuddle. It was an international convention for entrepreneurs. The puppies were a nice distraction between talks for them.

Yet another storm is coming later today. After a couple days of 80, we'll be back into the low 60s with an inch of rain expected.
We finally got some good news today. Before my husband had his 2nd pacemaker put in, he wore a heart vest for 4 months. We got a bill for that in the amount of $18,880!! He immediately called our insurance and they hadn't received a claim for it. He called the vest people to make sure they had his ins info. We received a 2nd bill for the full amount so he called the vest place again. As of today he has a $0 balance. Hooray!! It really pays to have insurance!
