Hi All, Well, 2024 has had quite the start. On day two I learned I was being let go from my job. It was a shock, and it wasn't. I knew they were restructuring and that things were likely going to change. I knew there was at least the possibility that I could lose my job. I just didn't expect it to happen quite so abruptly. When they told me, they logged me out of all of their systems, and as we all work from home and in different parts of the country, and even different countries, I was left scrambling to contact people to say goodbye. Thank goodness for social media. But now, my husband and I are both officially out of work. I'm truly hoping that this will lead to good things, but until then, we'll have to watch every penny. So, I hope everyone here has had a less dramatic start to their new year. Please check in and let us know how it's going.

So sorry to hear about your job. I will keep you in my prayers for new better job opportunities for both of you. There seems to be lots of opportunities for jobs maybe not where you are located? Hopefully something will open up for both of you soon.

PTVJ, I'm so sorry to hear that! What a shock! I had a similar work environment where we all worked from home but coworkers were in different states and countries. You can't even get together with the people you want & need to commiserate with. I know working from home makes it more difficult to cultivate contacts, but I hope you have some good contacts that know your work and can maybe generate some leads for you. Hang in there. Hopefully something better will come along.

Thanks all for the good wishes. It's been a strange week or so. I never realized how much of my daily schedule had to do with what needed to get done for work. I also learned that I wasn't the only one let go. We both felt similarly about how we'd been treated, so that was a good conversation to have.
Right now, I'm concentrating on my writing. I'm working on a new script, going over some I've already written, and getting ready to pitch some of my producer/agent contacts over the next few weeks, so wish me luck!

I hate taking the Christmas stuff down. Everything is so dreary afterwards. I was one of the last ones to quit turning my lights on. Got my tree down Monday. Today it was in the mid 50s so got all the outside stuff put away. I enjoyed the nice day but next week they're saying the high won't make it up to freezing. Brrrr. Hope everyone stays safe and warm in the coming horrible cold and snow.

Good luck pitching your scripts. Hopefully with all of the strikes now settled things will start moving forward for writers.

So very sorry to hear this, PTVJ. Rikki & I hope 2024 turns out to be a better year for you and your husband. I have not been around much as we are in the process of moving and very, very busy. I will divulge next month when we can get into life again. Have a good month everyone

ibmjas, I, too, hate the darkness of the neighborhood after all the decorations go away. Added to that is we've been so cold since Christmas. It hasn't been out of the 50s during the day and in the low 30s overnight. Hopefully the 60s will return this weekend.
Our grand daughter is almost 3 months old and has started smiling. I love seeing her little personality starting to take shape. She's sleeping through the night more now, too. That puts everyone in better moods in the morning, lol.
Christine, I think your family has been through enough for a lifetime. Only good things should be ahead for you and your husband. You're a good writer and any business would be lucky to have you on their staff. Wishing you all the best.
