Sorry, but this isn't about Nathan, although it could apply, lol. Instead, it's about the weather. Yesterday the high was 117. Right now our thermometer says 114. Both temperatures are record breaking. Luckily, as the saying goes, it's a dry heat. Although I doubt I could fry an egg on the sidewalk, it does feel like an oven outside.

Yikes DrvrTrnr! In what section of the country are you? I'm in NJ where it's in the 90s all week and humid but that's normal for us in August, although I'd prefer it if it were in the 80s. My daughter, who's 5, and I went to a Monarchs and Meadows festival at a local environmental center today. We missed the tram car out to the event and decided to walk after being told it should only take us about 15 minutes. Well it turned out to be closer to 30 minutes and half of it had no shade. The event was very nice and my daughter was fascinated by the butterfly, caterpillar, bee, and ladybug displays. When they called everyone over to go on a butterfly expedition through the meadow, I thought she'd jump at the chance. Instead she wiped her sweaty bangs off of her forehead and asked if we could find the tram car and get a ride back. Apparently the heat beat out the butterflies today.

Christine, I live in Phoenix, so being this hot is expected, but still uncomfortable. I grew up in Illinois, so am familiar with hot humid conditions. The festival you attended sounded nice, especially for your daughter. She's a smart girl to realize it was time to go home and get cooled off.

Humidity is on its way up here in Upstate NY too, and my company meeting is on Tuesday.

It will be down in the high 30's tonight in the volcano caldera. I think I know a kitty who will be snuggling under the covers tonight. When you are above 6300ft elevation it stays nice in the summer.
We are having our last campfire tonight as the total fire ban goes into effect tomorrow night. About time with all of the fires in the forest.

Those wild fires out west are terrifying. I sure hope your summer home stays safe, Tycho.

So, I decided to make pork carnitas for Taco Tuesday. Between on the stove top and in the oven it takes about 3 hours of cooking time. It's 93 degrees today and my kitchen is not air conditioned. Perhaps this wasn't my best plan.

Cleared 90 by noon today. (hot for NY) and quite humid... was not a pleasant day to be driving.
Stopped to get Chinese on the way home.

Perhaps this wasn't my best plan. Time to grill outside or have a nice chief salad. Stay away from stoves inside and the oven...forget that!
