Hi All, Well, we made it back from Memphis. My cousin's wedding was lovely. The bride was beautiful. It took place at this old Southern mansion that is now the Junior League. The ring bearer and flower girl were 3 years old and 20 months. They were adorable. Their Dad had to help them get down the aisle and while the flower girl threw out her petals, her brother insisted on picking them up! It was very cute. There were a few hiccups along the way. We almost didn't get a hotel room. We'd booked it weeks ago, had our confirmation email, and yet the person at the desk was telling us it didn't make it into their system. And then she just stood there for a while. I wondered if she thought we were just going to leave. Eventually she went in the back and talk to a manager. It took a while but we did get our room. But I must say, it feels like things just take much longer in the South. The trip was filled with little things like that. The hotel restaurant ran out of french toast for breakfast (my daughter's favorite.) The Starbucks ran out of chocolate, so they couldn't do a hot cocoa or a mocha. And the GPS kept directing us close to where we needed to be, but not quite there. But even though things didn't go perfectly, I'm glad we went. I got to catch up with some family I haven't seen in a few years and meet some of my new little cousins, who were just adorable. So, how was your weekend? What are you up to this week. I should get out there and finish the yard work, but I sure don't feel like it today. Maybe I need one more day to recover from my travels. Please check in and let us know how your doing.

I was able to play taps at a senior living center for Veterans Day. They had a nice gathering of residents and veterans. It will be nice to have a week home. My camping group is going to meet up for lunch and then go to the Eddie Basha Museum before it is closed and his collection is sold off. His kids didn’t want to keep his collection sad. Basha’s has a grocery stain here in Arizona. His kids sold it to a chain from California. Too bad they could not keep that going also. I will be volunteering for the AZ Humane Society adoption weekend. They recently took in 55 dogs from a hoarder situation. We are waiting for the opening of the new facility that is much closer for me to volunteer. Always nice to help get these animals into forever homes.

tycho657, I'm sorry to hear about the museum and grocery store chain. It's always sad when those type of local/regional things disappear. When I worked at the shelter, we dealt with some hoarder situations but it was usually cats. I can't imagine having to take in 55 dogs all at once! That's a huge challenge. I wish them all the luck with their adoption event.

I worked on Friday and today at the adoption event. We found homes for 20 dogs on Friday and 50 on Saturday. Today it was very busy. I finally went down and helped to get the forms signed and got 2 cats adopted out before I left. I think we will have at least 50 more adopted out today. Bisell is the sponsor for the event. They covered all of the adoption fees for the Dogs, Cats, and "critters" which are mostly rabbits. I did see one bearded dragon but I'm not sure if that was up for adoption.

Oh, the poor and probably lonely dragon. It sure is wonderful that you contribute so much time and effort.

GPS is fun no matter where you use it. Traveling over the bridge to Chincoteague VA about 10 years ago, we were told by the GPS to turn right to our street. We were in the middle of the bridge and water was all around us. When we got to the B&B and told them of the GPS directions, the owner pointed down the road which ended at the water, less than a quarter mile from the bridge. So naturally the GPS told us to turn right for our street! Oh, and do NOT ever ask for directions with less miles when driving near the DC beltway, the GPS will bring you through the center of DC rather than around. It saved a few miles and took an extra 90 minutes to get to the other side.
I ended up having to get cataract surgery, which was a definite surprise as for the past 20 years the eye doctors have told me I had the beginnings of them but that was it. Within a year they suddenly started, so getting the surgery early helps out both my eyes and the doctor. I only wish he didn't mark which eye to operate on with a permanent magic marker! I still have a dot over my eyebrow!! As for this past weekend, Mrs. G took me, or rather allowed me to drive her to, Sunglass Hut and I got my first pair of nonprescription sunglasses in decades. I was 21 when I was told I was nearsighted and needed glasses to see distance and to drive. I sent a photo to my brother with the new glasses and said I was cool again. He sent it back with a meme on it that said "I'm so cool you couldn't handle me even with instructions". Yeah, I have to admit to being the most normal member of my family...and you don't need to check with the others, just take my word for it.
Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving.

I got a special RV Garmin when I was back in Maryland as my Google maps seemed to get a brain fart or 2 daily.I ran them both on my trip home to compare. Garmin was SO much better.now if they could keep the big trucks off of the roads they would not be in such terrible condition.I avoided big interstates whenever possible.

Hi All! I've been MIA again. I had another 11 day stint in the hospital with excess water retention but have been home for a while and seem to be doing better. Unfortunately, my hemoglobin is running pretty low and that affects my energy level. I'm still keeping up with the basic chores at home but I sure don't get as much done in a day as I used to. Guess I'll just have to pace myself.
We're staying home for Thanksgiving and I'll be making 2 of my special birthday cakes for my grandson's birthday party on Friday. That'll take me most of the day. I hope to catch the Packer/Lion football game as I work though! I hope to relax over the weekend but may get a start on Christmas cards if I get motivated.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!
