Hi All, Tomorrow is Halloween! I miss when my daughter was little and we went trick-or-treating. Now, she tells me she's too old for that. But I look forward to seeing all the kids in costume coming around and even got a pair of bat wings for the dog. Over the weekend we went to Cabela's. We'd never been. The closest one to us is about 1 & 1/2 hours away. But the dog needed a new, larger crate and they carry one of the few types she can't bend or chew through. Since the delivery charge would have been $150, we chose to take the drive and pick it up at the store. I had no idea how massive the store was going to be. Since Cabela's allows dogs inside, we took her with us. Besides pulling on her leash in the beginning, she did well. She sat nicely whenever anyone came to say hi, and gave lots of kisses to both little kids and adults alike. So what excitement did you have this weekend? And what's your plan for this week? Check in and let us know.

Hopefully I will finally get my new window in my RV. It broke last March… I am heading out with my RV group on Sat. First time in years that I haven’t been RVing with my women’s group over Halloween. I bought a box of big chocolate bars at Costco to give out. We have a Cabala ‘s here in the Phoenix area. I haven’t been over there since I lost my husband. He was a hunter and their jeans fit him well. We went to the original store in Nebraska a few times. They let RV’s park overnight in their parking lots.

Concerning Cabela's, I really hope there will never be disclosure of how many things and how much money I have spent in their stores or through catalogs. The merger of Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop several years ago came as a surprise to me. I suppose it makes it easier to get all my money with less hassle as result the of consolidation of stores because Bass Pro got lots from me also.
The weather changed dramatically today. For over a week, we have had highs in mid to upper 70s with a couple days in the 80s. Suddenly about 2pm today, it went from 77 at noon to 51 at 6pm. The leading edge was 20-25 mph gusts for about an hour. It will be in high 30s tonight with highs of 40s and low 50s and nights in 30s the rest of the week. My brother in Iowa had two inches of snow yesterday. Our son living near Minneapolis had four inches. Our fishing buddy in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, had eleven inches at his home. Well, it is nearly November...should have been expected. I hope we get more this year. We only had eleven inches all last winter.

Well, I was hoping to dress the dog up for Halloween (we had bat wings for her) but things went a bit sideways. First off, we recently got some sturdy vinyl flooring in the area she spends the most time indoors because she digs or tries to bite carpet. Well, we left her alone for 30 minutes and she tore a hole clean through it and then tried to eat it. We're really not sure what to put down next.
Then, it was cold and rainy most of Halloween, so we didn't go out and do the pictures we'd planned on. Also, due to the weather, there were very few trick-or-treaters. But we didn't end up with as much candy as I thought we would. Later in the evening, I went to make dinner so I put a half a bowl of candy on the porch for trick-or-treaters to take while I was busy.
Most kids are pretty good about this. But I saw on our doorbell camera two guys, one very large, come and take everything but the Kit Kats, even taking handfuls and putting them in their backpacks. We could hear their conversation on the video and they didn't seem quite right. Honestly, I'm just glad they did nothing more but take candy and move on. But we saved the video, took in the rest of the candy, turned out the light and called it a night.
So, not our best Halloween. I didn't even have the time to watch The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, which is a tradition, but we might do that sometime this week, even if Halloween is over.

Wow, I am sorry to see you had all this trouble.
I completed putting mulch around the roses. These are more like 'mulch volcanoes'. Apparently I did it correctly because Dawn was pleased. Our dog has confirmed that Winter really is coming. She is out and back inside after record speed for 'bathroom breaks'. Hopefully we will get more snow this year than last year. We only had just over one foot the entire season! Nevertheless, the cold part has certainly arrived.

The twins turned 13 on Oct. 21 and still wanted to do Halloween. Penny and friends dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland. They really put thought and effort into it and looked fantastic. Pete dressed up as a blowup colorful rooster. His buddy was a round blue man for lack of a better description. Amanda said they were positively hilarious as they went off waddling down the street. They were rewarded for their efforts with a LOT of good candy. We did not go over this year as our SIL came home from a business trip to NY with a bad cold. It was the first time we missed Halloween with them. I missed giving out candy. Amanda said they had a lot of kids per usual We got our first snow of the year on Halloween and it turned cold now. It's like 39 degrees today. Winter is l o n g and cold in Wisconsin. Rikki had her annual physical yesterday and is doing great for her age. She will turn 80 in January. My physical is in a couple weeks.

I only had 6 trick or treaters in one group. I saw at least 3 videos on the next door app for our area that showed kids coming up to the door and taking the whole bowl of candy. One even took the bowl? ? Sad that kids do this. My suggestion for your floor is to put down ceramic tile squares. That is common here but probably not so much back in your area. Don’t think she could eat it or rip it up😎 Didn’t get my window put in yet 😞 So RV trip for this week is scrapped.

Last year we only had 5 trick or treaters. I bought quite a bit of candy, but since we weren't expecting many kids we ate at least a third of it. The kids started coming well before dark this year. I started giving out handfuls of candy but once we had about 8 kids I realized it was going too fast. I grabbed some tootsie roll pops that we hadn't put out. After we had 25 or 30 kids, it was after 7 pm and I wanted to eat so we turned out the light. I don't think we ever had that many. We live at the bottom of a hill and there are only 4 houses down here so usually they don't think it's worth it!

Typically, our daughter and SIL get 100+ kids and costumes are awesome so it is great fun for all
