Hi Everyone, It's October and I'm starting to feel like I'm already falling behind for the holidays. This week looks like we bounce back up into the 80s, but then go back down into the 60 degree range next week. I'm looking forward to the fall weather. This is supposed to be my husband's last week at work...but maybe not. Can you believe that when they decided to close this office with 30 days notice that the higher-ups didn't even know what they did or that it was a 24/7 operation? So they can't replace it with lesser paid employees as easily as they thought. There's another big meeting tomorrow where we'll likely find out more, but this roller coaster ride is maddening. We had just come up with a plan for how we'll budget the severance money and unemployment, how we'll handle the benefits change, and the new jobs my husband wants to pursue...and on Friday they told the office they're rethinking whether they can close it or not. I'm not even sure what to hope for at this point, but I feel like I need a month long nap after all of this! I hope your world is much more stress free! So check-in and tell us all about it.

Wow...what painful turmoil you folks are having to endure. Disassociated management is a painful experience. Hopefully, this will all pass quickly. Certainly, everyone will be leery of every future 'move' management makes.

I'm celebrating my new access to the internet this week! For the ,past 6 weeks, our DSL line with AT&T has been down and they did nothing but string us along with deadline after deadline for when it would be repaired. Last week, I'd had it with all of the issues associated with no internet and investigated another option. Because we're in a rural area, we're pretty limited as to options, but I was able to get service through T-Mobile and I'm now up and running. Thank goodness! It's going to take me all week to catch up on all I've missed.

nathanfan1, so happy to have you back in the land of the internet. It's been far too long. And I can't believe a company like AT&T couldn't resolve the problem, but I'm glad you found out you have other options. We actually had to put the AC back on this week because it was back up into the mid-80s. I was actually trying to sleep with the fan on when Astrid, our dog, woke me up at 3am. She normally sleeps through the night now so her barking and whining was unususal. So, I took her out thinking she had to pee, which she did, but when she came back in and went in her crate, she started barking again. She likes her crate. And this wasn't her intruder alert type bark, so I was confused. Then I realized it was kind of warm. She doesn't like the heat. So, I turned on the AC, and within five minutes she quieted back down and went to sleep. I slept better too, so I guess her complaining worked in both our favors.

OMG, Alice Cooper is in town to do a concert. He's an avid golfer and came out to MY golf course to golf. Of course I wasn't there but my husband was the ranger out there then and never saw him. The chef is a huge fan and recognized him when he came into the restaurant. She got a pic with him and had him sign her hat. The Pro also got a pic with him. He looks a little different without the makeup, hair pulled back, and hat on.

You all had lots going on this week. I am still catching up since I was gone again for almost a month in my RV. I got one of those memories on FB about my husband losing his job the year after I retired.(I retired early) I know I wanted our house paid off before we both retired and I can’t remember if we were still paying n it. I never made much as a teacher in Arizona ( Arizona is 49 out of 50 states for lowest pay for teachers) We use the internet for so many things now it is crazy that you went for 6 weeks off line Nathanfan, The couple parked next to me this weekend have Starlink. It is very simple to set up and they get great internet where ever they are parked as it uses satellite to get their signal. I know a couple of my ladies in my RVing women’s group who work full time from their RV’s use that to connect with their jobs. Funny how Astrid realized how nice AC is already. It has been in the high 80’s this weekend camping down past Tucson where we are a little higher. I run my AC in the RV for my kitties. If it’s too hot I find them stretched out on the floor trying to get cool. They don’t like it too hot. They do snuggle at night when the temps fall off and I wake up hot. Alice Cooper lives here in the Valley. He does many wonderful charity events. Seems like a nice guy who uses his fame for good.
