I'm back home in Arizona just in time for the record setting days of 110+ When I first moved to Arizona I use to keep track of home many days of 110 we had during the summer. It was usually 2 or 3 days. I remember one day of 126 when we were living in our RV while looking for where to build a house. I returned home last Friday to find my pool was green My pump went out 3 days before I arrived home. My pool guy came right over and fixed the pump and dumped chemicals into the water and back flushed the icky water. It was ready to swim by the next day. Yeah I now consider myself to be an Arizonian. I really don't mind the heat even 110. I just do my running around before 10 and then stay inside until the shade hits the pool. I like to take a nice glass of wine and my book to the pool and relax in the afternoon. How are you all coping with the summer heat and crazy rains? Take care.

So glad you got your pool up and running. I can't even imagine 110, never mind 126! The hottest I've ever been in was 109. I was working as a courier for FedEx at the time in an unairconditioned truck. I was better at dealing with the heat when I was younger.
We have temps in the low 90s now and rain almost every day, which means the weeds are growing, well, like weeds. The puppy is funny. She hates the heat but loves the rain. I've never had a dog that wanted to go out and play in the rain.
Yesterday was a memorial service for my cousin. He was only 44. No one is saying exactly what happened, but everything seems to point to suicide. Although we weren't close as adults, we grew up together, so I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around that he's gone. And his younger brother died of an overdose about 9 years ago. I don't know how my aunt, their mother, is surviving this.
Right now, I have a horrible cold. I hate summer colds. It seems like you shouldn't get sick when it's so warm out. The cough won't let me sleep at night, so I'm hoping I kick this soon.
So, how is everyone else's week going?

We started the week off with my oldest grandson's graduation party. It's hard to believe he's reached that milestone! He's been a hockey goalie since he was 6 years old and will be joining a team in the Junior Hockey League this fall. It's his dream to continue playing so we're hoping that this makes him happy. He says that college scouts now look to this Junior League for their recruits. We'll see! I baked almost 30 dozen cookies last week, many of which were used for the grad party, and I have the rest in my freezer for an upcoming reunion of sorts with close friends and their families. I sure. hope I have a few left for us when all is said and done! I just finished a major quilt project. I tallied it up and the quilt had a whopping816 pieces in it! It came out great but sure took a lot of time and concentration. I think my next project will be much simpler.

We've been having a very busy summer with baseball and soccer games. My grandson's team made it to the quarterfinals before losing to the eventual champs. Soccer playoffs are this coming week. Then we get a break til Basketball season. The break is most welcome as we have been to a LOT of games, LOL. Rikki and I went to a really nice zoo and out to lunch this past Thursday. We had a really nice day. We have been doing a lot of movies and hobbies. I've been getting in a motorcycle ride each week. I am going up to Door County on Monday. It is a great place to go.
I have been getting in my reading also. I think I am on book #28 so far this year. I am "working" on the Dirk Pitt series by Cussler and the Alex Cross series by Patterson. I'll read them til September when a lot of authors that I enjoy will start putting out new books. I will be enjoyably entertained till February when things will taper off again.
Our weather has been all over the place too. We have just had a week of really nice summer weather. That will change this next week when we get hot and sticky. Late in the week it will get pleasant again. We really could use some rain though. We have not had much this summer.

My medical assistant duties have officially ended. The nurse removed my husband's picc line yesterday morning. HOORAY!! Now I'm concentrating on catching up on my sleep. At least my husband is healing nicely.
There hasn't been an afternoon temp in July under 110, and the trend may continue into next week. The first monsoon storm we get will probably be severe with blowing dust followed by high winds and torrential downpours. It could provide a temporary cooldown into the 90s. That would be a relief, lol.
With such extreme temps, we don't go anywhere unless it's absolutely necessary; groceries and prescriptions at the store.

DrvrTnr sounds like things are improving. I hope we see rain soon. Geezer2008 when I met my husband we realized we were both Clive Cussler fans. Between us we had all of his books. Clive spent a lot of time here in the valley. The Poison Pen bookstore in downtown old Scottsdale would have book signings every time a new book came out. We went to many events. They have many well known authors come for signings and usually a little interaction with fans. Clive only did one where we sat and asked questions. That was for one of his books he did with Jack DeBruel. Jack said he had done a few of these co-writing gigs with other authors. He said most just gave you the outline and let you write. Not so with Clive. He said he would get his drafts back with red marks all over. He said it was a true co-writing collaboration. I loved the original series. I really couldn’t get into the new ones he did.

This past week had great temperatures and the humidity wasn't outrageous so I've been outside a lot. This coming week is supposed to be hot and humid but I'll probably still be outside a lot but it will likely be miserable. On the fun side, our local horse racing track, Ellis Park, just had their annual Dachshund Derby. What a hoot!
