Hi All, Sorry that I've been a bit out of touch. It's been a very busy week or two. First, we took the road trip, where we picked up our puppy and got to spend some time with Bobbie and Steve. I'm so happy we were able to visit with them and they were able to meet my husband and daughter. Their daughter came over so that Kate could spend some time with their horses. Bobbie made us some of her famous cookies, and they got to meet Astrid, our new pup. But when we got home, Kate got sick with a fever and sore throat. Thankfully, she's feeling better now. Astrid is a love, but still a rambunctious puppy. We're working through her bitey stage, and she's getting better, but we all have scars on our ankles! We're also working on housetraining. We were hoping to have our backyard fenced before we got the dog, but there was so much rain that they were behind. So we're walking her multiple times a day. Thankfully, they're coming tomorrow. And then I ended up in the hospital for a day. They were worried I might have developed a blood clot after our road trip. I didn't, but apparently, I need to follow up with my doctor. So, it's been a lot. I hope things calm down a bit from here on out. But let us know how your week is shaping up. I can't wait to here about it.

Astrid is one lucky puppy. Hope she catches on quick to not biting and going outside to do her thing. My great grandkids had some health issues the last 2 weeks that they picked up at camps. I hope your family gets healthy. 💞 I have 4 more days until I get home to 110 degree weather for a week. I was excited today to fill up 3/4 of a tank with gas at $2.89 only to discover it had issues my engine didn’t like. Put in some additive from Auto Zone and all is good. That’s what I get for getting cheap gas even though it was a chain gas station and not an independent.

tycho657, I hope the kiddos are feeling better. Kate is better, but I may have caught her virus. Fuel issues can be scary, especially on the road. I'm happy you got it taken care of. We got our fence put in today. The backyard still needs some cleanup, but getting the fence was a big step forward. And while we were walking Astrid, one of our local police officers pulled over and jumped out of his car. We were wondering if there was a problem or if we'd done something wrong. Nope. Officer Chris is a dog lover and just wanted to meet our new puppy!

I think I figured out the fuel issue today. These states have only one gas with ethanol. I filled with one that was 10c cheaper that had 15% ethanol. In AZ our gas has 10% and it’s not a problem. My big RV engine didn’t like the 15% blend. Today I put in regular for 10c more😻 Glad your fence is in. Training will have a chance now. Do you have a doggy door?

I competed in the Women's City Golf Tournament over the weekend. The 1st day I shot incredible. Only 1 other senior lady beat me. The 2nd day I crashed and burned. It was so disappointing. I still won 2nd gross in the senior flight but it could have been so much better. Fortunately the weather was great.

Congrats, ibmjas! You'll have better luck next time.
My husband finally came home from the SNF a week ago Thursday. He's still on IV antibiotics which I have to administer. The process stinks. It involves a pole, a bag with the powder in a vial that I have to mix, and tubing, just like in the hospital! I've done IV stuff before, but with premeasured premixed syringes. This is a whole different thing. He gets a dose every 6 hours. each one lasting 30 minutes. Finding time to sleep more than a few hours is not easy. At least I only have to do this until the 20th.
Our afternoon temps have been in the one teens for the last 2 weeks. Thank goodness for AC, lol. We're going to break the record for the most 110+ days in a row since 1974. No cool down is in sight. All we can hope for now is for the monsoon to kick in and bring some storms. That will lower the temps at least 10 degrees.
Stay cool everyone and enjoy the weekend.

I am pleased to read that your husband is back home even though that will be certainly involves a burden of 'care giver' for you. Dawn has had that task several times. No one wants to be a that burden; but, we certainly appreciate the care more than we can really explain.

ibmjas - Congrats on doing well in the tournament. Sorry that the second day didn’t go better but that just gives you something to shoot for next year. DrvrTrnr - I’m happy to hear your husband is home, but sorry you are stuck having to take on the role of medical assistant. That is never fun. Hang in there and get as much rest as you can. The 20th is only four days away. And I don’t know how I’d survive those crazy temperatures! It’s been in the low 90s here, and that’s enough for me. I used to love the heat, but as I get older, I find I can tolerate it less and less. But at least we tend to get a good thunderstorm every day or so. That does cool things off a bit and keep it more tolerable.

I don't know how everyone survives the 100-120° weather except to stay in the air conditioning at all times. I would hate that. We've only had 3 or 4 days that have been so hot & humid that I wasn't sure I could make it around the golf course. It almost doesn't seem fair that our weather is bearable while everywhere else seems to be suffering, but I'm going to keep enjoying it while it lasts.
DrvrTrnr hope you hang in there. I was on care-giving duty a lot last year and the year before (different relatives). It's tough but I didn't have to administer any IVs. That would make me nervous.
