Hi All,
Wow, I can't believe June is almost over. Where did it go? We actually turned on our air conditioning for the first time last night. Until now, we'd been able to get away with just the ceiling fans, but it was around 90 and humid yesterday, so we broke down. We don't have central air, just wall units, but it's nice just to be able to cool the bedrooms at night.
My husband took down the largest, highest branch on our neighbor's dead tree yesterday. It hands over into our yard and would likely take down our new fence if it fell during a storm. But now we have to cut it up. Between his sawzall and my mini-chainsaw, I'm hoping it won't take too long.
I've been painting. So far, I've got the primer up in the dining room and hallway. I haven't gotten to the living room yet. The primer is tinted to the paint color, and I like the look, so I'm excited to get the job done.
So, how is your week going? Check-in and let us know.

Lots of thunderstorms today, and a tornado warning! We generally have thunderstorms throughout the summer but tornados are rare and this was the second time in a week one was spotted within 10 miles of us. It's a new trend I'm not crazy about.

Tornadoes are not fun. We had one when I was a kid. It took our barn, all the large trees in our yard, and our car. The house and us were saved when the front door window blew out. The State expert said that saved us. Everything else was destroyed. We were lucky!
All is well in our world except the air Quality. It looks like a huge fire is burning nearby and there is a HUGE cloud of smoke overhead. Yesterday, they said kids, the elderly, and people at risk should stay indoors. You could even smell it. They said we should get some relief by midday Friday. Hope so.

We finally got some much needed rain today. It started out heavy and rained for a half hour. We've hardly had more than 15 min of light rain at a time for all of June and then it's only been 3 or 4 times. Today it rained off and on all day & now this evening I still can hear some thunder so there may be another round. Apparently some of the weather was severe but at my house the power stayed on, no tornados, and although the wind was pretty strong at times there are no limbs down.

I see the smoke is back from the fires up north. Also the weather has gotten worse on my projected path home I am plotting. I hope things clear out this next week. Really don’t want any tornado warnings or 100+ temps heading home.

Tycho, I'm so happy that you've had a good, long visit with the kids! I've loved seeing all of your activities with them and I'm sure they're going to miss you and the kitties terribly when you go.
It's been hot and dry here for sometime and we really need the rain. We got some thunderstorms in the area last night but not even a tenth of an inch at our place. There's a better chance tonight, though it might mean some fireworks get canceled.
