Hi Everyone, Sorry, I wasn't around this weekend to post a Mother's Day thread. I hope all of the moms, grandmas, step-moms, and pet moms had a wonderful day. We spent Saturday with my Mom and yesterday with my mother-in-law. And my daughter took me out for our annual Mother's Day banana split (my favorite tradition!) I'm hoping this week will be less busy than the last. I got my flowers planted in the front yard last week, but I do have to buy some more mulch. Now I've got to get onto the backyard, which is a much bigger project. But at least the weather looks good this week. Most of it will be in the 70s and sunny, fingers crossed. So please, check-in and let us know how your weekend went and what you're hoping for the week ahead.

Another death of a camping friend. We had 2 in the last 20 days. After talking with my Grandson on Mother's day I have decided that I will make the trek across country with my RV so I can spend some quality time with my kids in Maryland. I am planning for next summer. I really hate to drive my RV that far but it is my home on wheels so I need to take it. I might try and take a Northern route back home and visit some friends along that route. I hope all of the Mom's had a good day.

Well, weather is great...nevertheless, we are inside doing 'Spring home cleaning'. It is amazing how much stuff can accumulate in the storeroom and under the stairs in the 'crawl space' so quickly. No hidden treasure found yet. However, it is only day two with what may be couple more days coming. We are getting ready for company. Dawn's brother and his wife from England for a couple weeks. Truthfully, they are kind of people you would like to come visit more often!

tycho657 - I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s passing, but happy you’ll be driving out to see your family. I’m sure you’re all looking forward to it. At least with the RV, you can take your time and even take your kitties along. larryholmes - We have an under-the-stairs closet that just scares me. It’s packed with stuff and hasn’t been properly cleaned out in years. At some point, I have to get to it, but there are so many other things on my list that I don’t know when that will be. And yes, there are the guests you can’t wait to leave and others that you’re sad when the visit ends. Glad you have the latter type in your home. I went to Walmart yesterday for mulch, they have the lowest price, and I’m going to need several bags to finish the front and back yards, but they were completely sold out! So tomorrow, I’ll be heading to the Home Depot garden center to see if I have better luck. With the amount of sun we’re getting and just enough rain, it seems our lawn needs to be mowed twice a week. Over the weekend, Todd took down a bunch of dead branches from the dead tree next door that hangs over our property. But the biggest dead branch is too high for us to reach, and we will need a chainsaw to get it down. So, as the last thing I want is to see Todd on a tall ladder with a chainsaw, I’m searching for someone who can do that for a reasonable price. I really want to get it done before we put in the new fence. Wish me luck!

You guys are talking about cleaning things out, my brother died last month and he was a hoarder. He lived in our family home for 60 years. He also lived in another city. My daughter and I have been up there several times trying to clear pathways wide enough to walk through. Last week I got a construction size dumpster and we spent several days filling it up. We got 90% of the garage done so at least we can carry things out of the house now. We got a lot in the house done, but 1 room is still totally untouched, there's lots left in the other rooms and the attic is full of stuff. It's so over whelming. It will be a while before we are at the point where a normal house would be when you have to clear it out after the death of a loved one. You should also know that it is not in my DNA to be neat and organized. I just can't imagine how long this will take.

ibmjas, it's amazing how much stuff accumulates after living in a house for 60 years. I can't even imagine how bad your situation is now. Hopefully your daughter can continue helping you. When my dad decided to sell his house, I called a business to come and clear out the basement. Made the rest of the work easier.
It's been a week since our younger daughter's wedding on the beach in La Jolla, CA. It was cold (barely 60), windy, and cloudy that whole weekend. Not what I was expecting for the San Diego area. The ceremony was lovely, although getting down to the beach was not an easy process, a sore subject for me.
I can't believe how many of us have had close friends/relatives pass away recently. My best friend since 4th grade passed away early Easter Sunday morning. She lived in Houston and we hadn't seen each other for several years. We did call each other several times a year to catch up. I'll miss those calls.
Like Teresa, we're waiting for our pool to warm up above 80. Maybe in a few more weeks we can swim.
