Good Morning! It's already mid-April. Time flies much too fast these days. And it's raining again here, but at least it's in the mid-50s. Talk about a weird weather week. It was 90 degrees here on Friday! But we missed it as we were driving back from Charleston, SC. We had a great trip. The weather down there was perfect; 70s and sunny every day. We toured Fort Sumter and Boone Hall Plantation. Did you know that enslaved women and children created all of the bricks for Fort Sumter, and most of the bricks used for houses and buildings back then? You can still see some of their fingerprints in the bricks. And from the size of those prints, they know that the children were sometimes as young as three years old. About 60% of enslaved children didn't survive to see their 10th birthday. We also took a sailboat tour of Charleston Harbor with dolphins swimming alongside our boat. And the seafood was wonderful! Lots of fresh, local shrimp and crab. But now that we're home, there are a lot of chores to get caught up on. So what are you up to? Check in and tell us how your week is going.

What a wonderful trip you had, Christine!! The info about the slaves was just heart wrenching. OMG. Our weather has been like yours also. We had 81 on Saturday and we woke up to snow on the ground this morning with a high of 38 today. Our average high is 54 and we are not supposed to see that again til next week sometime! On Saturday when it was 81, we went out to see the sturgeon spawning. It was awesome, as always. LOL, there were a LOT of people out and about. We also went birding and saw a lot of birds passing through. We are going to have a quiet week with just normal things to do. Hope you all have a nice week!

Christine glad your trip to SC was filled with great experiences. Our country has so many wonderful things to experience. Last week I lost one of my camping friends. She had back issues and woke up unable to move her legs. She went to the hospital and had surgery and things were looking good. Her husband got a call at 2am about an issue with her pancreas. She died that day in the evening. She went so fast. My camping group has lost 2 members this year suddenly while they were in the hospital. I am getting a back oblation this week. They said I could drive myself but after these things I am having a friend drive me. My garden is looking good. The water system seems to keep it moist.

My son came in for a 4 day weekend. We celebrated his birthday with family and he got to catch up with all his friends. Since he's been getting thin on top he decided to shave his head last month. It's so hard to get used to! His friends also threw him a birthday party and they all wore bald caps! It was great to have him home.

Had my back procedure yesterday. It was very painful but it will hopefully bring me relief soon.

I hope there is a simple solution...I saw your 'cat therapy' on Facebook. I have lower back/spine MRI scheduled on 4 May. Apparently, much of the 'protective padding' between the vertebrates is gone. I don't know if there is much that can be done. It doesn't keep me from doing things like yard work...except on the steep bank where Dawn already tells me to stay away. That is also a prime poison ivy area; so, I always [usually] stay away from there. Nevertheless, this back problem does not prevent me from going fishing. Only 121 days until Great Canada Fishing Adventure-2023 begins again!
