Hi All, The sun is shining! That's a big improvement over the last few weeks, and it looks like it's going to hold for several days. Hopefully, this will help get my roof fixed. With all of the rain, sleet, and snow we've had, there was no way they could get up there to fix it until now. Fingers crossed, they can fit us into their schedule while the sun continues to shine. My Mom sees her radiologist today to come up with a plan. Her doctor thought she'd only need about three rounds of radiation, so we'll see if the radiologist agrees. Last week, we saw my daughter's cardiologist. The word "unusual" kept being said as they went over her test results. Her heart is throwing in lots of extra beats, but she is completely asymptomatic. As the doctor was doing an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart), he could see the extra beats and that she was feeling no outward symptoms that it was happening. Given how "unusual" that is, our pediatric cardiologist is consulting with a team of pediatric cardiologists in NYC. So, we're waiting to hear what they have to say. So...how are things where you are. Please check in and let us know.

Well, so much for sun...or getting my roof fixed. We got about an inch of snow and then icy rain last night.

I think I mentioned last summer that there were lots of wild grape vines growing in the woods around my house. They vine up to the top of trees and keep light from getting to trees until they die. Last summer they bridged over to a couple of the trees in my yard and they were starting to die out so I cut several of the vines that I could reach. Since all the vegetation is dead I went back in the woods last week and cut many more vines. Some were 3 to 6 inches in diameter so I couldn't get them with my lopping sheers. Now I have poison ivy. I had a horrible case 40 years ago where my face was swollen like I'd been beaten. I could barely see. My hands looked like oven mitts and I couldn't even bend my fingers. That took 2 rounds of steroids. This case isn't nearly as bad but every day it spreads a little more. The only thing that worries me is a swollen patch near my eye. If it gets worse I may need more steroids. I can easily recognize poison ivy when there are leaves. Guess I need to figure out what it looks like without leaves!

Fingers crossed for your Mom. Very interesting about your daughter. Looking forward to hearing what they come up with. Do they do pacemakers on one so young? We will keep praying for both ladies! Our life has slowed down to a more normal pace. Pete has 1 basketball tournament left and Penny has an archery tournament in a couple weeks. One of our daughters visited over the weekend and we had a nice time catching up. LOL, it must be family time. A granddaughter who lives in Oregon contacted us and we caught up with her life. We are going to lunch with another daughter tomorrow. It's been nice. We have even started movies again. We watched The Fabelmans last night. It was excellent. Last Friday, we went and saw Cocaine Bear. LOL, please don't judge We view a w i d e range of movies. Our list is long and we can start on it with TV shows slacking off. Thursday is Book Club and Friday I am going to the State Girls Basketball Tournament which is held here in Green Bay. It's kinda nice having just fun things on the calendar. Happy Week to All

ibmjas, Oh no! I’m so sorry. I really hope you get through this bout of poison ivy as quickly as possible. Definitely get the steroids if you need them because your last go-round with it sounds scary. geezer2008, No judgment on Cocaine Bear. I’m a fan of Ray Liotta, plus it looks so ridiculous that it’s probably funny. Unfortunately, I hate gore, and I hear it has a lot of it, so I’m probably going to have to pass on this one. I’ve wanted to see the Fablemans and just haven’t gotten around to it yet. They scheduled three rounds of radiation for my Mom. Hopefully, she tolerates it well and it does the job. And we’re supposed to hear back from my daughter’s specialist tomorrow, so I’ll keep you updated.

Sounds like a lot going on with you all. Ibmjas I hope you get over your Ivy without too much discomfort. I have always worried about getting that when I lived in the midwest. 3 rounds of radiation is nothing. She should be over that quickly. Heart issues can be a mystery. I am heading out tomorrow for back to back RV trips close to home this time. I love Lost Dutchman State Park where the 1st one will be. The 2nd one is at a nearby regional municipal park. They say we will get into the 80's this weekend and I will be "dry" camping so no electric for the AC of it gets too hot for my cats. I don't want to run the generator for the AC...

It seems like the poison ivy is getting better. The right side of my face still has some minor swelling but on the plus side my wrinkles disappeared! Ha! The initial areas appear to be drying up but weirdly I'm still getting a few new spots on wildly different areas of my body. It shouldn't last much longer. I think if I had taken a shower as soon a I came in from cutting the vines, I could have prevented this. I washed my hands thoroughly when I came in & there is no poison ivy on my hands, but I apparently scratched my face, ears, neck, arm before I got my hands washed.
Anyway if you think you may have come in contact with poison ivy, the most important thing you can do is wash thoroughly. Since I was wearing long sleeves & long pants I thought I would be good just washing my hands. So wrong! It takes about 48 hours for the rash to appear.

My roof got fixed! . And just before the next round of icy rain/sleet is supposed to start tonight. I'm told it's an older roof. And one layer of shingles was laid down on top of another. So...it might be fine or it might start coming apart like this patch did. We'll just have to try and keep an eye on it. Given that it's three stories up, that can be a bit of a challenge. I may need to dig out our binoculars or invest in a drone!
