Hello Everyone, It's President's Day so the schools are closed and we got to sleep in a bit. But I'm about to take my daughter to the mall to meet up with one of her friends. I'm not much of a shopper, so I'll just be keeping an eye on them. It's ironic how much I cringe when I have to go to the mall now, considering I spent my late teen years working there and enjoying it. We enjoyed the Daytona 500 yesterday. Not a lot of big wrecks but still some fun racing. And the winner, Ricky Stenhouse Jr is more of an underdog, so that's always fun. We have my Mom's visit with her oncologist on Thursday, so we're all holding our breath until then. And we sent my daughter's heart monitor in last week, so now we just wait for the test results. So, a lot of waiting... But how's your week going? Please check-in and let us know.

You must be 'on pins and needles' with all this. You can depend on us to keep you folks in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm afraid that our week is going to be all about weather! We had about an inch and a half of snow yesterday that they described as the "appetizer," then the "salad' comes late this afternoon and overnight to the tune of 4-6 inches, and the "main course" comes tomorrow afternoon and all day Thursday with a FOOT OR MORE of light fluffy snow! It'll all be blown around by 30-40 MPH winds for "dessert!" We've already had 55-60 inches of snow this winter and another 18 inches is definitely going to put us in the top 5 snowiest winters ever. SWELL! Fortunately, I can stay home and hunkered down but my husband has to drive 20 miles to care for our herd of beef cattle every day. Here's hoping his 4 wheel drive truck is up to the task. I wonder if we'll see the ground by May? ? On a much happier note, I made a New Year's resolution to reorganize my sewing room and yesterday I finally finished the project! One of the few resolutions I've managed to keep over the years. I'd purchased a boatload of fabric over the past year and most of it was still sitting in assorted boxes and bags, doing me no good. So I emptied out everything so that I could see it all at once and match it all up into actual quilt kits. It was actually quite fun to play with so many fabrics and envision the quilts they'll become. I repacked all of it in the organized kits so now i'm ready to just pick a project and make a quilt. What a joy!

nathanfan1, sorry you were given the cheap weather menu instead of the more desirable gourmet one, lol. Winter sure has a stranglehold on your area.
Our weather is just like groundhog day (my least favorite movie). Two more cold, rainy, windy, and snowy storms headed our way beginning tonight. We definitely need the rain, but I could do without the cold and wind. I really shouldn't complain because I know the hot weather is just around the corner.
We had our kids over last night for dinner and a card game. I made a roast in the crock pot and used a liner for the first time. Clean up was so easy. I've used the cooking bags for turkeys for years, but never considered using something for the crock pot until our daughter said she tried it. An old dog can learn new tricks, lol.
My husband finished the grocery shopping this morning. With bad weather quickly approaching, we'll be spending the rest of the week inside where it's warm and dry. Have a good rest of the week, everyone.

Positive thoughts for the test results this week.ππ There are 3 ladies in my camping group who are big quilters. I wish you could see some of their quilts as you would appreciate them. One has the 12 ft arm machine. I am home early from my last RV trip. I started off in the mountains where we had snow one day and very cold temperatures. I have not been in snow here in Arizona since I moved here in 1993. I thought I left that in Indiana π€― I didn't have gloves and had to use a small pancake flipper to scrape off the snow on my steps and windshield. My door was also frozen shut in the RV and it was my only exit. I was ready to call one of the other campers to come and rescue me when the door finally popped open. The 2nd half of my trip was scary as there were big winds of 50mph+ while driving down. They were saying the wind tomorrow might be 60mph + with rain so I headed home a day early. Good to be home safe from the storm.

Glad you're home safe and sound, Tycho. I can't imagine driving an RV in high winds. You're one brave soul!

NF, glad you were able to scratch off one of your resolutions. Sorry you're getting buried under snow but at least you can make quilts until it all thaws out. We have 30 MPH winds today but we set a record at 76*. The winds are supposed to be worse overnight. My daffodils are just about to bloom but of course it's supposed to get below freezing tomorrow night.

nathanfan1, whenever I start complaining about weather here, I think of you....and try to stop complaining!!!! I do love the creative way they talk about your weather, though, at least they try to be humorous! Here in New England and where I am in north central Massachusetts, the weather has been WEIRD and highly unusual!!!!!! On the bright side, we've only had to have the driveway plowed 4 times so far this year. Most storms have been less than 3 inches, but almost always a "wintry mix" as they like to call it.....so no fluffy snow, just heavy wet snow/sleet/freezing rain, and a couple arctic blasts just to make sure we know it's still winter. Then we get a warm spell, 40-50's and a couple times 60s, everything melts and we repeat it all again. HOWEVER, a couple weeks ago I was without power for a couple days, we had two 4-5 inch snow storms with lots of sleet/freezing rain/snow, the trees never lost the coating of snow from the first storm and the second storm about 6 days later adding to it was just too much, especially for pine trees, but lots of other trees with broken branches throughout this area, and power ourtages, I have massive pines which lost a lot of branches....I am getting quotes to remove about 6 large pines and a few other trees that are close and tall enough to potentially damage the house if they came down in a storm. It will require a crane but after all the work over the last five years to get the house in good shape, and my new screened porch, I want to minimize potential problems.
