Sorry this is so late. It was one heck of a new year.
We had our rescheduled Christmas Day dinner at my place yesterday. All was going very well, until my brother-in-law suddenly wasn't feeling well, got up from the dinner table, and passed out cold, hitting his head on a side table on his way down.
He awoke after about a minute trying to say he was fine. My husband, who was then sitting on the floor with him, pulled his hand from other his brother's head to show him all of the blood coming from the cut on his head.
So, the end of New Year's day was spent at the hospital. After many tests and some stitches, they still didn't have any real answers, but released him with a recommendation to see a cardiologist.
I was really hoping that 2023 would be calmer than 2022, but we didn't even make it 24 hours without ending up at the hospital! That said, if there's an upside, it's that this happened in front of all of us. Apparently, he's passed out previously and gone to doctors who didn't do very much. Being that my good friend is a cardiac nurse, I was able to get him a referral to a top-notch cardiologist near him. And his mother, brother, and I will bug the heck out of him to make sure he follows up!
I hope your New Year's Day had far less drama, as does the rest of your week. Check-in and let us know.

Due to covid, we had to postpone our Christmas with the family until New Year's Day. We had a nice time exchanging gifts and then I'd set up a dessert bar. That was a definite hit! Later in the afternoon, we had the PLEASURE of watching our Green Bay Packers soundly defeat the Minnesota Vikings!

Wow, PTVJ, I'm certainly sorry to see this! I hope he is well and has no lingering problems or health issues.

Hopefully this is the only event of the year. You are ready for some positive things to happen.

nathanfan1, at least you have a good team to follow. A lot of us in AZ want the Cardinals to fire the coach and hire someone with NFL experience.
Christine, you deserve a break!! You've had enough trauma to last a lifetime. I wish you nothing but good days ahead.
Our younger daughter got engaged New Year's Eve during their party. Her boyfriend called us asking our permission before he popped the question. He was nervous even though they've known each other 10 years, together as a couple the last 8 years. She did say yes, lol.
We're in another cold, rainy, windy weather pattern this week. The weeds are loving it, but we really need the rain. Snowbowl, the place north of Flagstaff where people go to ski, had to close due to blizzard conditions on the mountain the other day. They've gotten around two feet of new snow the last few days.

Our snowy winter continues to pound us! It seems as if we have a bull's eye right over western Wisconsin. We had over 20 inches of snow in the 2 weeks before Christmas and now, between yesterday and today, we're getting 10 more inches! In the last 3 weeks, our schools have been closed 4 days, 1 day with a 2 hour late start and 2 days with a 2 hour early dismissal. My poor husband feels like his full time job is snow removal! Thank goodness we have a tractor with a big snowblower on one end and a strong bucket on the other end. The grandkids think we have some pretty awesome mountains of snow for playing on though.

DrvrTrnr - Congrats on your daughter’s happy news! That’s a great way to ring in the new year. And thank you all for the well wishes, although this morning was far from drama free. My daughter was having a bad morning and running late. Then it all got worse. Since we live in a 100-plus year old wooden house, we don’t light candles. But my daughter loves the smell of scented candles so I got her a candle heater for Christmas. She’s supposed to shut it off when she goes to bed, but that didn’t happen last night. As she was already out of sorts this morning, she knocked the candle over. Since the heater was on all night, the big glass jar was simply filled with wax. Now that wax is all over her desk, her newly painted wall, and our newly stained hardwood floor. With all the drama, she missed the bus and I had to drive her to school. I had a deadline this morning for work, which I just finished. Now, I get to go do battle with the wax. It looks like I’ll need a hair dryer and a plastic scraper to get it up without doing any damage…but there’s a lot of wax so I think this will be most of my day. Wish me luck. If there’s any upside to this, it’s that it was a lavender scented candle so at least everything smells pretty.

Glad it wasn't a flame candle. Hopefully she can find a safer place fir the candle. Maybe a timer for the plug? Good luck getting the wax picked up. My "smart" watch went crazy this morning and stopped working. I had to buy a new one. The old one had to be charged daily which was a real pain. New one I ordered says it will last 2 weeks. I should just go back to my old watch but I like to track my steps and sleep.

On the weather last night, they said that our average seasonal snowfall is 51 inches. So far, we've had 40 inches and we still have 3 solid months of winter to get through!!!!!!!!!! Good grief, Charlie Brown!

It tracks my steps, sleep, and I can even receive text messages on it and answer with simple canned msgs. It will do more but that's about all I use it for. Plus it only needs to be charged once a week. At Christmas my kids got me a fancy Samsung watch with a golf GPS. In theory it sounds great. It does everything my FitBit does but has to be charged everyday. It's a lot bigger than the FitBit (I can view time, date, weather, steps, battery power, heart rate all on 1 screen). I haven't used it for golf yet but I'm concerned that it may not even make it thru 18 holes of golf before it dies. Since it's a gift I will try to make it work.

Well I got links removed so the watch would fit. Tried to sync it up to my phone. After one day I am ready to go back to my charge daily watch. This new one has such small print you need a magnifying glass to read the print. If I try to light up the background by the time the light comes on it dissappears. Very disappointing 😞
