Christmas week is here! I have lots of presents to wrap and lots of boxes to break down and things to put away, but our tree is up and the house is decorated. But I'm behind on my cookie baking and will need my daughter's help to get that done. My Covid cold has definitely gotten worse. By Christmas, I should be 10 days out from my initial symptoms, and that's when they say you're no longer contagious. So I'm hoping I'll be feeling better by then and still be able to host Christmas dinner. I was so happy to hear that Wreaths Across America was well attended. I know some of the scout troops were a part of it here. I've meant to visit the cemetery here to visit my grandparents' graves, but every day I've set time aside, it has poured rain. And now that I'm sick, I probably won't get there until after the holiday. At least I know my cousin was there and put the grave blankets out. So, check-in and let us know how your holiday week is going.

I have not been keeping up with the posts.Sorry to hear that covid caught up with you. I am sure we will all get it eventually. I am cautious and have been wearing a mask at church and when I am shopping with many people around.
I hope you all can be well for Christmas. I will be doing facetime for Christmas with my family.

Covid finally got my husband and I the past 2 weeks. He's fully recovered and I'm almost there as well. We both had very mild symptoms and were ever so thankful we'd had the latest booster.
This is shaping up to be the Christmas that wasn't for us. The covid issue is a part of it but the weather has had a huge impact too. We always cut a fresh Christmas tree around the 15th of December and that's when we were sick and we got 18 inches of snow. Today we got 5 more inches and the temps have dropped to -10 to -20 with wind chills today and tomorrow forecast to be -25 to -35. Whiteout conditions and no travel advised. Schools were closed 3 days in the last week because of the weather. Needless to say, no tree this year! Our girls and their families are traveling around the holiday this year and the rest of us are very content to stay safe and warm at home. We'll make time to gather when we're all healthy and the weather is good.
I know most of you are also going to be dealing with the cold and snow so I hope everyone weathers the weather and has a great holiday - no matter when you celebrate!

Nathanfan I hope you all can stay safe and warm. Our wind chills are supposed to get down to -25 but actual temps are supposed to be above zero. Next week sounds like it will be warmer. We can hope. PTVJ, I really hope you can conquer Covid and have a good Christmas. I've been wearing my mask everywhere trying to stay well. It's worked so far.

We have been very fortunate and stayed healthy. We are fully vaxed and go out when places are not busy. Seems to work for us. On a brighter note, we finished our cookies today and are set for Christmas. I just need to wrap my presents for Rikki. LOL, I outdid myself this year and got her everything she wanted and a couple extra that I know she will like We are going to Daughter's home for Christmas. We are bringing dinner as Mike cooked for Thanksgiving. They will furnish drinks, dinner rolls and dessert. We will bring meat, side dishes, and potatoes. They are way more than good to us so it is nice to return the favor once in a while. It's hard to believe Bobbie and I are in the same state. She has been blasted by winter and we get the milder version of less snow and cold. We are supposed to have 3 days in the 40's next week and our snow will probably be gone again. Go figure. We wish you all a very Blessed and Merry Christmas !! Stay safe and Healthy

Well, I finally tested negative! So, as long as my daughter and I both test negative tomorrow, we'll definitely go to my Mom's for Christmas Eve. However, Christmas Day (which I was hosting) with my in-laws has been postponed until New Year's Day. We're all vaccinated, but my brother-in-law didn't want to take the chance of any of us transmitting something to him or their mother. It's actually easier on me because I've been sick all week. So getting an extra week before having people over for dinner is a relief and my husband, daughter, and I will spend a quiet Christmas day eating goodies and watching Christmas movies. I actually think I may have gotten Covid from my husband. He had a cold the previous week, tested once early on (which was negative) but never retested. Shortly thereafter, I got Covid, and so did his co-worker. They work in a facility where they interact with a lot of people, and no one wears masks anymore, so I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner. It's pouring rain here. The temps are supposed to drop to about 25 degrees tonight, so everything will ice up. Unfortunately, my husband still has to go to work. I'm very grateful to be able to work from home!

larry, I love the decorated cookies. Very creative, lol. I'll be cooking early dinner tomorrow, so this morning was spent making 2 pumpkin pies and the spinach dip. My husband and I will put together the appetizer trays in the morning. Tonight we're going to my husband's niece's house for a 6:00 dinner. It'll be nice to celebrate tomorrow at home for a change. I'm very thankful we don't have to deal with the atrocious weather a lot of people here have to endure. Please stay home and keep warm and safe. Merry Christmas.
ibmjas, I'm with you about what you said last week regarding Christmas cards. We bought a box of 10. Two of them wen t out of town, seven were local, and we put the last one in our neighbor's mailbox. Like you, most of the cards we received were from businesses. Most of our friends in other parts of the country are cutting back as well.

Quiet day today, just my son and I, and the cats, and the goats, but all is good. Christmas Eve we had the neighbors down for a bit of snack/food grazing, some imbibing, and spirited conversations. I made spritz cookies earlier in the week for Christmas eve dessert, however, not many left by this morning, so made a second batch today. The weather has been a bit wonky, a week-and-a-half ago we ended up with 4" of snow along with rain and sleet, which then froze and was quite a mess. (We were luckier than a town adjacent to us who ended up with 12+ inches of heavy wet snow.) Then this past Thursday into Friday we got 2.5" of rain and temps in mid 50s, which got rid of everything except an inch of fluffy snow at the tail end of the storm when the temps plummeted to 10 degrees. Go figure. I know it's much worse in the midwest and hope things moderate for everyone there, and everyone stays or gets healthy!!
