Our leader has a new kitten so she must be occupied. I just got back from 2 back to back camping trips. I had planned to return today but they were predicting freezing temps, possible snow and for sure rain today so I came back yesterday. I survived my first board meeting end of the year chapter meeting with my women's group. I am the Arizona President so I had to run the meeting. We had a nice gift swap and a wonderful dinner. It is nice to see so many members who only come to the Dec camping. My other group goes to Wickenburg, AZ that is the Cowboy town. It is always decorated up nice for the holidays and there are great shops to visit. There are many items made locally. Congrats to our leader becoming a cat owner. She is very cute. Hopefully she will post a picture of the new kitten.

I'm here! And thanks to tycho657 for starting this thread. It has been a busy day. Over the weekend, we adopted a kitten. (Picture below.) She's about 3 months old and we've named her Darcy. She's confident and affectionate. She likes to play and likes to snuggle up with us on the bed to sleep. I think she's going to be a lot of fun. On Saturday we saw a fantastic play at the local high school. It was called Puffs and it was about other students who were at Hogwarts School of Magic at the same time as Harry Potter. It was really funny and I was blown away by how talented some of these kids are. There's so much to get done this week. The contractors will hopefully be back. They're still a few projects that need to get done, but their entire family had Covid and we haven't seen them in a couple of weeks. So please, check in and let us know how things are going for you.

Is it really only Tuesday? My husband and daughter are both sick. It doesn't seem to be Covid, thankfully, just a cold. My husband is taking his cold meds and headed to work. I'm letting my daughter take the day off of school and hoping she's well enough to go back tomorrow. She's been struggling a bit with this new chapter in math and not being in school won't make it any easier.
I just hope I don't get sick. There's way too much to get down in the next two weeks!

Hopefully, their illness will be ended quickly. You certainly need to stay well. Our approaching storm should arrive here late tomorrow probably overnight into the next day. Only a little snow is possible, but icing is almost certain. At least, that is expected to be gone fairly quickly!

Hi all. It certainly is a busy time for all of us. This will be our last really hectic week and then we can coast through the New Year. Our home is decorated and presents are bought. The only thing I'm waiting for something I ordered Dec.1. They are now saying maybe Dec. 22nd. We also finished our Xmas cards this week. We have commitments 6 of 7 days this week, LOL. Next week, we are just going to bake cookies. We'll take 3 days to get them done and have fun doing it. We'll listen to our favorite Xmas music and bake. I am Rikki's trusty sous chef. I get to do all the cleanup and anything else she likes. I say "Yes, Dear" a lot! That works best and we get done in less than half the time than when she had to do them alone. That's a win-win in my book. We finished our 10 week course on aging and the brain today. It was really worthwhile. We have found that we are already incorporating some of the things learned into our daily life. Have a GOOD WEEK

We've had some plumbing issues in our kitchen. The result was having a new sink and faucet installed today. The old sink was the original one when the house was built in 1985, so we were due for an upgrade. We still need to have the line to the sewer outlet flushed and will have that done in a few days.
We're having very cold weather now. It was 33 this morning at 6:00. My husband said he saw steam coming off the pool! We've never had that happen before. It's 3:00 now and the temp is up to 53. Another freeze watch is forecast for tonight. We should be back in the low 60s by the end of the week. There is a bad storm heading east now and I hope all of you who live in its path stay warm and safe.

We got our Christmas tree, and it's up with just lights and garland/ribbon. I promised my daughter I wouldn't start on the ornaments without her, so we'll likely finish it up tonight. So far, the kitten hasn't been all that interested in the tree, which is a shock since she's curious about everything else in the house. Perhaps that will change once the ornaments are up. Having had cats for many years, I have plenty of unbreakable ornaments to put on the bottom half of the tree!
And we just ordered our Christmas cards last night. I usually try to get them done much earlier, but my daughter wanted to design them this year, and we wanted some photos of the new kitten on them. I don't think she ever realized how stressful designing the card could be because she said I can take it over again next year. The finished cards are supposed to be ready tomorrow, so I'll be spending my weekend getting them ready to send out.
And the contractors are here! We have a barn door to put up between the den and my daughter's room, a ceiling and door that need another coat of paint, and a transition from hardwood floor in the den to the old tile in the kitchen that needs a transition. Fingers crossed, they can get it all done today.

Went to the National military cemetary this morning for "Wreaths Across America" sponsored by Walmart. There are never enough for every grave. I try and get out early to make sure I have one to put on my husband's grave. I spent the rest of the day volunteering at the Musical Instrument Museum. Lots of visitors this time of year.

Well, good news and bad news. The good news is the contractors finished up the work downstairs. Yay! We also got our tree up and it's decorated. The bad news is I have Covid. It started with a sore throat and a headache on Thursday night. When the cold symptoms got worse I decided to test, and sure enough, it was positive. We got the latest booster shot less than two weeks ago, so there wasn't enough time for it to really kick in. I knew I should have gotten it sooner. Currently, I'm just tired and feel like I have a bad cold. I'm hoping I can kick it before the holiday because I'm hosting Christmas day dinner! Also, I've got my fingers crossed that my daughter doesn't get it, but we were together plenty the last few days so it will just be pure luck if she avoids it. I'm about to start writing out my Christmas cards. I usually do it much earlier but we wanted to get a photo of our new kitty on the card, so we waited. This year, my daughter designed the entire card. (And if you're reading this and you and I don't normally exchange cards but you'd like to, just send me a private message. ) Everyone stay well out there!

Wow...I am sorry to hear about your COVID. I hope your family does not experience this too. In Winchester we had more than 450 wreath placing volunteers at our local national cemetery. The coordinators were so pleased. There were so many youngsters that some of the Scout and little league members were accompanying people by carrying the wreathes for them. We went to the back corner rather than graves at the entry gate. Suddenly, many people were also going to the back corners. Every grave in the cemetery had its wreath. Wonderful and always rewarding experience!

I've sent out 5 Christmas cards - my entire list. Between all the deaths and people who no longer do Xmas cards, that is all I'm left with which I don't mind because I don't like sending them out. On the flip side we haven't received one card so far from an actual person, just businesses. I may have to whittle the list down further!
