Hi All, We got our hardwood floors refinished! They started on Thursday and did the final coat on Saturday. So we were down at my Mom's (about 45 minutes away). However, I did have to run back and forth a couple of times. But it was nice to sleep in a bed for a couple of nights. Today, the electrician is here. We're getting new outlets, light switches, and ceiling fans installed in three rooms. Then there's some trim work that needs to be done, and then...we can move back into our bedrooms. I can't wait. Of course, the next phase is also a bit daunting. Although we had the contractors paint the three rooms they worked on, I need to paint the living room, dining room, and kitchen on my own and hopefully get it all done by Christmas. My husband thinks I'm crazy even to attempt it, but I'm determined. I just can't live with the red and orange paint scheme any longer. We've also ordered new windows. Unfortunately, we can't afford to get them all done. The house has 21 windows, and since it's such an old house, they aren't standard size. So we're getting ten windows done towards the front of the house that get the most wind and weather. I have a checklist, so I try to take it all one step at a time so I don't become completely overwhelmed! But I can't wait until all of this is done and life can get back to normal. So how is your week going? Please check-in and let us know.

More renovation adventures...
Well, yesterday was a shock, almost literally. The electrician called me in to say there was a problem installing one of the ceiling fans. I assumed it was going to be in the bedroom where there wasn't one already. I was wrong. It was the ceiling fan in another room that's been there for 20+ years and we're replacing. When he took the old fan down, he found it was not connected to an electrical box, but just to some very old, frayed wires! He was shocked at how lucky we were that it never caught fire.

Wow...you can thank your lucky stars. I am glad that you discovered this without the discovery being a fire!

Ugh. Trying to get Taylor Swift concert tickets for my daughter and her friend. Kate is a big fan and has wanted TS to be her first concert for a while now. Unfortunately, Taylor has broken TicketMaster. I had a verified presale code but now I have a message saying it won't work until tomorrow.

Wow, red and orange paint. You'll need to prime first. I started a year ago painting my family room, dining room, kitchen and hallway that is all open to each other. I was trying to do it in 3 parts. I got part one done about this time last year. Part 2 done in spring. Then numerous family issues have precluded any more progress. So, maybe next year?

Yesterday, I was in the online queue for Taylor Swift tickets for almost three hours when it bounced me out and said the allotted presale tickets have sold out. Now I get to try again for the regular sale on Friday morning. I'm not feeling hopeful.
Then the recycling people were supposed to come and pick up our old refrigerator. Our electric company will give you a $100 credit if you recycle your still working fridge with them. I waited for them all day yesterday, only to get the phone call that they had a pickup team call out and couldn't make it. They don't have another appointment for two weeks! The old fridge is sitting in the middle of my kitchen. It's heavy and not on wheels so I can't really move it. Thank goodness we're not having Thanksgiving dinner at my house!

This whole effort is certainly a challenging process.

What a week! I tried my best to get Taylor Swift tickets. I spent hours in an online presale queue only to get to the front of the line and find out that all tickets were sold out. Now TicketMaster says there won't be a regular public sale because all tickets have sold out. So, it doesn't look my daughter will be seeing Taylor Swift any time soon.
I lost my AirPods. I broke my scissors. And the barn door I ordered to go between the den and the bedroom never arrived.
On the upside, the new mattress we ordered did arrive today. We have to put the bed together but with a little luck, I should be sleeping on a real bed tomorrow night instead of my sofa.
And tonight was my daughter's school play. Half way through, the fire alarm went off. (They've been having problems with it going off at school.) We all had to go outside for 20 minutes where it was 29 degrees and sleeting!
I hope all of you have had an easier week.

Wow...some days are like that. I'm certainly sorry you had to go through all that.
