I thought I would start a thread for those of You who enjoy Holiday Novels. LOL, I enjoy them and love driving our Book Club crazy with my December selections. Here we go: #1. The Christmas Spirit by Debbie Macomber It's the story of 2 lifelong friends who exchange jobs for the week before Xmas. Both think that the other has a cushy job. How wrong they are! One is a Pastor and the other owns a bar. It is a totally fun book and a great way to start off the Season.

I just finished reading The Ink Black Heart, which is a murder mystery. It's the sixth book in the Cormoran Strike detective series and I just loved it. The only downside is that new books in the series only come out once every two years, so it's a long wait. But given the dark nature of that book, I should probably read something cheerier as we head into the holidays, so I think I'll look into your recommendation. Thanks.

2. The Twelve Topsy-Turvy, Very Messy Days of Christmas by James Patterson and Tad Safran
It is a very fun and unique take on the classic 12 Days of Christmas. I'm really enjoying this one!

3. A Christmas Memory by Richard Paul Evans - He is a favorite holiday author of mine and always touches the heart. This one is almost an autobiography and very good.
4. Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan - I always enjoy one Holiday novel set in another country. This one is set in the Cornish coastal village of Mount Polbearne. It is full of heart and humor and a very enjoyable book.

I finished the Patterson book but I thought it was just bizarre. Can't really say I enjoyed it.
I'm ready to start the Debbie Macomber book but still have a couple of deadlines to meet before I can read. I sure hope that next week will be my payoff for getting everything done and I'll be bale to relax with a few good books!

Well, I bought The Twelve Topsy-Turvy, Very Messy Days of Christmas before reading nathanfan1's post. Let's hope I side with geezer2008 on this one! If nothing else, the title seems to fit what this Christmas season feels like so far. I'm hoping to start reading it tonight.

Okay, nathanfan1 and geezer2008, I just finished The Twelve Topsy-Turvy, Very Messy Days of Christmas by James Patterson and Tad Safran. I will admit that it was very different and not at all what I was expecting. It took me a few chapters to begin to care about this family and their strange predicament, but once I did, I really did enjoy it. It's certainly strange but fun and it kept me guessing until the end. But now that I'm finished, I find myself wanting to know what happens next for this family.

It took me a while but I wound up really enjoying it. Being an optimist, I think good things were in store for them now that they got past their troubles. Maybe a followup is in store for next year???

So...should we start a new thread or just continue this one for the 2023 season?

I think we can just keep this thread going.
I read Starry Night by Debbie Macomber. It's about a reporter from Chicago who heads to Alaska in search of a best selling reclusive author who does not want to be found or interviewed. It was cute and one of her better holiday offerings in recent years IMO.
I am currently reading Christmas at the Shelter Inn by RaeAnne Thayne. She always writes a very good Holiday novel and this one is no exception. Natalie Shepherd has not been back to Shelter Springs in years due to sad circumstances that occurred. She gets a desperate call for help from her pregnant, bed ridden sister. She returns to take care of her little nieces and help run the Shelter Inn.
