Hi All, It's Halloween and then we're into November! We had a busy weekend. Friday, we went to a Halloween event that was kind of disappointing. It said it had something for all ages, but it was really geared towards little kids, so the two 13-year-olds I took found it pretty boring as they were too big to go on any of the rides. And I wonder if "all ages" was because they served alcohol for the parents. Then my daughter had a friend's Halloween party on Saturday, and on Sunday, we went to see the movie Jaws with the NJ Symphony Orchestra playing the sound track live. Thankfully, it hasn't gotten too cold here just yet (and I hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying that.) I'm really hoping we can get some new windows put in by the end of the month, as some of them you can literally feel the wind blow through them. Currently, the crew is working on the ceilings and priming the walls. We picked out pain colors and might just get it up on the walls by the end of the week. I'm also hoping the floors get done soon. And I have to find out if we'll need to leave the house while the floors get finished because if we do, that's a whole other plan I need to come up with. So, how is your week going? Check in and let us know.

We only had about 45 kids last night. The weather was good, but I think being a school night made a difference. I was watching the CBS morning show the other day and Gayle King suggested Halloween could be the last Saturday in October. Other holidays have been moved to Mondays and Sundays etc., regardless of the date, so why not Halloween? Apparently parents and teachers were unhappy it fell on a Sunday.
We're expecting a cold front to come through Wednesday night with a possibility for rain Thursday into Friday. The lows are supposed to be in the 40s and the highs in the 60 degree range. That sounds like we'll have to turn on the heat by Friday morning.
Our son-in-law's birthday is Thursday, so we're having all the kids for dinner that night. His family is having a party for him Saturday so we'll be going there for dinner. It should be a lot of fun. I hope everyone has a good week!

We had very few trick-or-treaters too. I think it was a combination of it being a school night and a slight rain. We used to get a lot of kids on Halloween back when our town had a kids Halloween parade. Once the parade dispersed, a lot of kids would hit our block. But a couple of years ago the town decided to do a trunk-or-treat event at the local elementary school instead, and now we barely see anyone. The downside is that it's left us with a bowl full of candy that I will likely eat!

We usually get between 4 and 10 kids. It was misting all day so I figured there would be few this year too. I started handing out3 pieces of candy to every kid. Once we got to 12 kids I decided I needed to ration. I had snickers, baby ruths, peanut M&Ms, and tootsie roll pops. I told the kids to pick out 1 piece that they wanted. The majority opted for tootsie roll pops! I was surprised! We had about 6 pieces of candy left so didn't have to disappoint anyone. We might have had about 20-25 kids this year.

I flew across county and was with my Great-grand kids for Halloween. My Great-grand daughter was not feeling well so we just had the kiddos dress up and we took pictures. She was a very cute witch. She can smile on cue so I have a cute picture I posted on FB. Her brother was the king of Wakonda. My grandson had us clean out a big pumpkin and he and his son made a volcano out of the pumpkin. Fun activity for the guys. Spent the week with them then I headed to the airport to fly up to RI to visit my friend. I hit a deer with the rental car at 11:00 on my way to drop the car off. The deer hit the driver side back door and the glass shattered into a zillion pieces. Surprisingly the car was drivable so I continued on the freeway the 35 miles to the rental drop off. Hopefully my State Farm insurance will cover the repairs. I was frazzled after that and left my coat at the gate in Baltimore. I had my passport card and a government ID in the chest pocket along with some money. I was in the air before I realized I had left it on the chair at the gate. I was hot and didn’t want to wear it on the plane. I LOVED that jacket. I doubt I will ever see any of that stuff again. The next day my friend and I took the Amtrack to NYC to see Hugh Jackman in The Music Man. I played in the pit orchestra for this show in college. I played in pit orchestra’s for extra cash. I have played the music for this show many times. I have never seen a Broadway show before. We ran from the train station ( it was late of course) to just make it to the theater in time. It was amazing how much dialog I never heard before as I was focused on playing the music. Hugh was so fun as he would add things and look to the audience and give a look. After the final curtain call he came forward to say that today was the day once a year that they collect for the theater aids fund. He had some gloves that he and Sutton, the other lead , had signed and they would auction off. They went for $22,000.00 ! Then he thought, how about if we sign another pair for the 2nd place bidder, maybe add a signed hat to the 3rd place bidder etc. They ended up with over $80,000.00 in donations. Great but my friend had made reservations at an Italian restaurant that was 10 blocks away and we only had 20 min before the delay of the auction. Crazy but we somehow got there 😎After dinner we again ran 12 blocks to the train station only to discover that the train had broken down and was very delayed. We were supposed to leave at 7 and didn’t leave until much later. The train broke down again and we were owner 4 hrs late getting home in the middle of the night. I am ready for a quiet Sunday…

We had very few kids come by...no more than 15 or 20 which was startlingly below from past years. I took the remaining candy [except Salted Nut Rolls] to our church donation collection for local distribution.
