Is it really Monday? I lost complete track of my days. School starts next week, and there's so much to fit in before that happens. My daughter spent the weekend with her uncle and his girlfriend in Brooklyn. At 12 years old, there's not much cooler than telling your friends you were hanging out in Brooklyn without your parents. It sounds like they had a lot of fun, but as I just picked her up last night, I'm sure there are still plenty of stories for me to hear. The downside for me was having to drive to Brooklyn last night. When you map it, it says it's a 90-minute drive, but it's always a minimum of two hours with traffic. And the tolls are astronomical. But they did make homemade pizzas in their backyard grill/oven for dinner, and there was even homemade ice cream (dulce de leche flavor with peanut butter-filled pretzel pieces.) We haven't been to the beach at all this summer, so I'm hoping to go down for at least one day this week. Wish me luck! So what's happening with you this week? Check-in and let us know.

I got my new irrigation system installed last Friday. Next I will be planting nice cactus, ocotillo, and a couple more roses. Roses grow well in the desert. I haven’t updated the yard since we built the house in 1997 so it was time. I will be watching the US Open Tennis this week. That is on my bucket list. I was planning a trip when covid hit. Now I need to look at going in the next year or two.

This is a test. I'm doing this on my phone for the first time. Will take some getting used to, lol. Next I want to figure out how to post a picture. We had terrible rainstorms a couple weeks ago. The ramada on the other side of our pool collapsed from the high winds and torrential rains. We're hoping the workmen will come soon to take away the pile of wood and build us a new one.
As anyone can see, I haven't figured out how to post a picture.
I figured out how to add a photo from the computer, but it said the file is too big. Now I'm at a loss again, lol.

DrvrTrnr, but you did POST! So that's a good start. , And I'm sure you'll figure out pictures soon. They may have to be added as an attachment (see Add Attachment button). But as I don't have the phone app, I'm not an expert. I always say I'm going to download the Proboards app to my phone, but I've never done it. With my job, I'm always on my laptop, so there's rarely the need. But considering a run a board, I really should have access on my phone just in case. I'm sorry to hear about the crazy rain. Speaking of extreme weather stories, I was actually talking to a friend recently, and she told me about a windstorm we had about five years ago where the wind literally pushed her two front windows into her house, frame and all! She lives across from a park, so it's a big open area in front of her. They say it was a straight-on wind with nothing to break the momentum. It happened to her neighbor as well. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and nothing like that has happened since because it sounds scary.

I didn't put the app on my phone. I just went to the website like Teresa did. Maybe having the app would make posting pictures possible.

I decided to try to post a picture from my phone. When I clicked on Reply, how it came up didn't offer an opportunity to post a picture. At the very bottom of the forum page there were a couple of options 'Dashboard Desktop'. I clicked on Desktop. That made it look exactly like it does on the PC and would allow you post a pic. However everything was tiny and I could not figure out a way to get back to how it looked before even with logging out and closing out the website then coming back in. So you may not want to do that. Sorry, thought maybe I could help.

Thank you, ibmjas, for trying to help.. I saw that Dashboard Desktop at the bottom of the page but was unsure about clicking on it. ProBoards charges $2.99 for their app, and I didn't even see one for this site. The full list probably comes up with a purchase which I didn't make.

Yesterday, we finally went down the shore! (Yes, it's true. In Jersey, you don't say you went to the beach. You say you went down the shore.) It's been such a busy summer that we hadn't had the chance, and I realized with school starting next week, the summer is almost over. So my daughter, mother, and I went down the shore for the day, and it was lovely. The weather was perfect. The water was so clear I could see the little fish and all the shells. The waves were a little rough but not too bad (although the lifeguards did have to help one elderly woman and a boy on a boogie board who had trouble getting back to shore. And at one point, I saw a big splash in the distance. Then it happened again. The lifeguard saw it, too, and said he thought it was a whale breaching the water. It was far enough out that I couldn't see exactly what it was but close enough that I could tell it was big. Pretty cool. The beach was actually at a state park, and there was an outdoor restaurant where we ate after showering off from the day in the sand. The fish tacos were excellent. Then we went to the boardwalk where there was an accordion player playing Italian music (we put a tip in his case because he was good and Kate had never before seen an accordion.) Kate and I had our palms read. (They told Kate she was going to have three kids. Kate said afterward, that's not happening. Kids are way too much work to have three of them. ). Bought some salt water taffy, played a couple of games and then got lemonades and fried Oreos for the drive home. It was such a great day that I wish there was time to do it all again. The state park with the beach has lifeguards on duty every weekend after Labor Day through September, so perhaps if the weather stays warm, we can go back before the season is completely over.

I posted a puzzle of tge cougar shadow on the Superstitions but that was a screen cap of somebody elses picture so I took that down.
