Hi All,
I'm trying to get back into the swing of things now that I'm home. The bathroom renovation should be completed this week, which is exciting. It will be nice to have some sort of working plumbing on the first floor again.
And it's only been in the low to mid-80s here! This weekend I got some yard work done. As much of the lawn is dead from the heatwave, the yardwork consisted mostly of pulling weeds. Why is it that the grass dies, but the weeds still thrive? At least all of the flowers seemed to have survived my absence.
I was also very excited to get my new area rug for the living room. I ordered it from Ruggable. You choose the type of pad you want and then the rug which lies on top of it. The rug topper is made to be removed and washed if necessary. As we hope to get both a cat and a puppy in the next few months, having a washable rug seemed like a good idea. It was a bit tricky getting it down, mostly because it says you need two people for a large rug, and I was doing it myself. But I really love the look of it as well as the fact that I don't have to fret whenever someone spills a drink.
Okay, your turn. How is your week going? Check-in and let us know...

Your rug sounds nice however be careful trying to wash that in your regular washing machine. You might break your washer? I am starting to plan for camping season starting in Oct. I have my Frustrated Maestros at a regional event and I'm hosting for the first campout with one of my other groups. New irrigation system was supposed to happen this week but with all of the monsoon storms he has put it off another week as he has big trees to clean up. The weeds are growing nicely 🤪

Last summer, a woman was sexually assaulted in a local park by a man with a knife. There had never been any serious crime in that park. I used to walk/bike there often before my surgeries. Then it became a rash of attacks in different parks in two counties. They suspected it was the same man. He'd target women who were walking/jogging/biking alone. There were five attacks, but one woman managed to fight him off. They had his DNA, but he wasn't in the system. Well, he was recently arrested. Not only did he live in my town, but they arrested him less than two blocks from my house! We have a pedestrian bridge that goes over the river, and someone called the police after witnessing a man performing a "lewd act" there. The local police arrived quickly and arrested him. They realized he looked like the sketches we've all seen for about a year. They checked his DNA, and it's a match. So as disconcerting as it is to have had that kind of a criminal so close, it is a relief to know they've finally caught him. But I will admit I do things differently now. I no longer go walking/biking alone, and I frequently have pepper spray with me and in hand, just in case.

Glad they arrested that guy. Scarey... Reminds me of years ago when I moved to South Bend, IN. I had been running daily thru the woods in Oregon. Now there was a beautiful path along the river thru town. I heard about a lady murdered who had been running along this path about a month after I moved there.Never went running again.

We have been busy with Summer stuff. LOL, but we want to get as much in as possible before our weather changes. The summer has been just beautiful. I don't remember the last time it stayed green and lush all summer. From my bike rides, I see the crops look really great this year. I usually ride on Monday and the weather has been great. We have seen all the latest movies, gone to musical comedy shows, a tourist boat trip on Green Bay with grandkids, and a trolley ride through Door County. The kids took us with them to a drive thru zoo last weekend. It was great fun and the nicest zoo of that type we have been to. It was great fun feeding all the animals. Hope you all are enjoying your summers as well

I've always done my own landscaping. Last fall I decided I wanted to make some changes but it soon became apparent to me that I was no longer capable of doing much other than trimming. I called some landscaping companies earlier this year. They were all months behind. I signed a contract in May and on Tuesday they came out to install everything. Temps were in the 80s with low humidity and still are. Perfect time to get it done. I am beyond pleased with the result. Just hope I can keep everything alive until they get established.
The biggest part was a wall they built towards the end of the house. That's something I definitely couldn't have done on my own. I was going to attach a pic but it was too big.
