Hi All, I mentioned that I went on a trip last week. That trip was to Nashville...where they were filming my movie! For those who don't know, I've been writing scripts for about the last ten years. I've gotten close to getting a couple of them made, but it just didn't happen. So this was my first, and it was very cool. It's a thriller about two women and their son who have rented an air BnB for vacation. The house ends up being double-booked by another couple, and things go awry. I had a lot of fun writing it and even more fun watching what was in my head come to life as actors became my characters. The film will likely be released online Spring of 2023. I'll be happy to share the details as I get them. So, I'll post more about it on this thread. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I doubt I'll get tired of talking about it!

PTVJ, I am so thrilled for you! I hope it will be on a platform I have access to. I suppose there is just a working title for it now. Any actors that we may have heard of? Anxious to hear more details about how your original concept morphed into the final product. Are you able to be on set whenever you want? Good luck with it all.

Well, it's an independent producer/filmmaker. I'd seen some of her work and generally liked it. We began talking online last summer. She read two of my scripts and said she really liked them but didn't have the budget to make them right now. Then she said she was working on a new project and needed a script. She warned that she couldn't pay nearly as much as a studio but that the film would definitely get made.
Being a writer who isn't in LA and has very few connections, that was intriguing. So, over several conversations, we hammered out the details and signed contracts. Then I had to get to work on a script that fit the themes she was working with. This was right around the time I had my surgery last fall. There was a quick turnaround time on the first draft, which meant lots of late nights on my laptop, but I had a lot of fun writing these characters and this story.
Spring brought other creative/production meetings and a table read with the actors (all online). Fast forward to this summer when filming began. The entire story takes place at an Air BNB-style rental home in a somewhat rural/country setting. It was originally supposed to be a lakehouse, but they couldn't get the location they wanted, so changes had to be made. I'll tell you more about the house soon.
The cast is no one you would have heard of, but I thought they were fantastic. They really brought the characters in my head to life. The cast and crew were all very nice and very excited to have me see their work. I was there for the last half of filming on location in Tennessee.
Okay, I've got to run out to do my grocery shopping... More later.

The house where the majority of filming took place was a working alpaca farm. They basically roamed free, hung out, and frequently walked up on us if we were outside. They weren't aggressive or unfriendly, but since they didn't know us, they'd generally get about five feet from us and then stop...and stare. Like they were wondering what we were doing there.

I bet it's great to be working with someone that has that sense of humor. With the long and tiring days, that's a nice lift.

nathanfan1, Yes, the days were long. I got on set between 8 and 9 am each morning, and there were crew members who were there earlier. And I left the set between 8 and 9 pm, and there were cast and crew still working. Very long days for all involved.
