Hi All,
Well, last week we had almost our whole house repiped. At least all of the plumbing is in one corner of the house. And the upside is that, fingers crossed, we won't have any more leaks from here on out. This week they'll be putting up the walls, floor, and ceiling, do the tile, etc. Hopefully, we'll have a new working bathroom by the end of the week.
I'm actually traveling this week, and when I have the chance, I'll update you all about that.
But for now, please chime in and tell us how things are going where you are...

Last week was hectic. This week is merely busy. Yesterday, we met our granddaughter and her guy halfway between our homes for dinner and a catchup session. Today, Rikki has 2 Dr. appts. The first is to get her new knee checked out. It has been a year today since she had it done. The 2nd appt. is to look at something they have been watching in her breast. We are concerned and will see what we will see. It's been 5 years since her last cancer. If all is well, we will do groceries tomorrow and Book Club on Thursday. Last weekend, I put our new nesting tables together on Saturday and we saw Bullet Train with Brad Pitt on Sunday. LOL, this coming weekend will be quiet (YAY). Hope you all have a good week

Well, I followed instructions and did not go pull weeds in a small, designated area which Dawn wanted cleared. I went where I was told to pull my share of weeds. You guessed it...she charged in and quickly cleared that 'blockaded' area herself. That included previously unnoticed poison ivy which has appeared as a rash all over both her arms. We both thought we were being very careful. Apparently, that is not true and now she is suffering. Anyway, I am fixing meals but not allowed to apply any medication. She insists that this is not going to interfere with the Great Canada Fishing Adventure...so very thoughtful. You don't suppose she is anxious to get me out of our home for two weeks, do you!?! One of our daughters-in-law is a Nurse Practitioner but currently under quarantine in their home because of positive COVID test. She is vaccinated and double boosted but apparently contracted it from a patient. One guy has admitted that he had not really been vaccinated after all. That is little comfort now. Anyway, she says she is feeling fine but must quarantine for several days.

PTVJ, kind of exciting to hear about your house coming together although I'm sure it's a pain. I'm really anxious to hear about what you're up to because I'm sure it's something exciting!
LH, sorry to hear that Dawn got in the poison ivy. I've had it many times and calamine never did a thing for me. One thing I got was Resinol which you have to ask the pharmacist for but it doesn't require a prescription. This also works great on diaper rash. Last time I had poison ivy I googled home remedies. One was to use salt. It was wonderful! I had it on my legs. I took a fair amount of salt, added a touch of water and rubbed it on my legs. The salt grains scratched my itch (which felt great) and the residual when rinsed off really helped to dry it up. I'd try to leave it on for a few minutes and would repeat whenever it started itching bad again.

So happy that Poisen ivy doesn’t grow here. That sounds terrible. It will be nice to have new pipes in the house. Hopefully that will work or another 50 years for you. I hope your fishing trip goes well, enjoy.
I will be getting new irrigation put in next week. Originally they put in PVC pipes but they will break down and cause leaks. I hope this will work for the next 20 years. We have had daily monsoon storms in the area. I love the rains. My aloe plants are coming back to life and my ocotillo is greening up nicely. It is amazing how many people I know who have gotten covid who had all their shots. I was worried on my trip last week to San Francisco as most people in the airport and around the city were not wearing masks. People on the BART were wearing masks. It was a nice escape for the summer with temps in the 50’s at night and 60’s during the day. I did get a couple of clouds sneezing at me but not enough to get wet. I toured the city and the water. Also went across the bridge a couple of times. Had a few Irish coffees and some nice fresh seafood. Prices are very high so I only ate out once a day either breakfast or lunch.
