Hi All, How the heck is it August already?!? This summer has flown by. Thankfully, I have the contractors here, and they are currently ripping apart my kitchen and bathroom. I'm curious to see where they end up at the end of the day and if I'll be able to use my plumbing. I'm guessing that we may be having take-out for dinner tonight. My aunt made it through her surgery okay and is already in rehab. She broke both her hip socket and her thigh bone. She's in her late 80s and refused to use a cane. Now it looks like she'll need a walker from here on out, but hopefully, that will keep her from falling ever again. My town had a street fair on Saturday, and my mother, step-father, sister, and niece all came. My niece loved the bubble show. There were stilt walkers, therapy dogs, and an ice cream eating contest. So how's your week going so far? Check in and let us know.

Hopefully, your home will get settled quickly. Only 19 days until the 2022 edition of the two week 'Great Canada Fishing Adventure' begins for my brother and me! Fishing reports are promising. The chain of lakes is almost back to normal level after the eight feet of snow they had around the Sioux Lookout, Ontario, area during this year's winter. Can you imagine all the shoving those folks had almost daily?

larryholmes, that is some serious snow, but hopefully, it means some serious fishing for you and your brother! I remember visiting my sister when she was doing a mountain lion study in the Sierra mountains in California. It was June. We were driving up this mountain road, and it was sunny and beautiful when all of a sudden there's 4 feet of snow on either side of the road! My sister said the elevation was so high that a lot of the snow hadn't melted yet in June.

I hope the kitchen renovations happen fast. That can be hard if they move slowly. I hope the fish are biting for you. Do you bring back fish? Or do you just eat what you catch while you are fishing? Great that they are getting extra snow for the lakes. We are so far down here in the west it’s scary. We did get a big rain the day I flew out to San Fran last week. My favorite river near my house where I like to Kayak had a major mud event with the rains. We had one spot we called “Pinball” that had some class 1-2 rapids. Always fun to go through. Well, major mud flow has totally changed the river. They actually shut off that part of the river until they can asses how safe it is as they use it for tubers also. They don’t want people to drown. There have been pictures of paddle boarders going down but I have yet to see any kayaks. There are bushes/ trees leaning over the rapids that suck you in. Most people have flipped, a few lay flat and sneak under. Today in San Francisco we actually had a little rain. Nice day for a couple of Irish coffees this afternoon. I was hoping to move to the 3rd floor so I would have a view but the people extended their stay darn. Tomorrow I will play tourist and do the big bus city tour and harbor boat tour around Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge. I have a coupon for free Cable Car rides for August so I will do that on Wed. Then back home on Thursday.

I really don't know how it got to be August already. I grabbed my coupons and went to Meijers to get several things. I was shocked when my coupons didn't work. They expired 7/31 and I was so sure today was 7/31! I can't keep up any more.

My Mom and step-father used to live outside of San Francisco, so I've spent time there. It's a beautiful city. There's actually a walking tour of Alcatraz that's pretty cool. Years back, there was a sailboat excursion around San Francisco bay. That was fun because there's a lot of wind on the bay. We literally had to hold on and I was glad we had our life jackets!
And the SFSPCA is a cool shelter to visit. It's very modern, with the animals in rooms with glass walls so it's easy to see them in a more normal setting.
I hope you and Larry both enjoy your trips!

So, they tore out the cabinets and sink and took down the wall to get to the broken pipes. There were multiple layers of wallpaper and tile. But the surprise was finding an old window that was built over both inside and outside!

So.. do you want a nice window in your kitchen? That is usually a nice thing for a kitchen.

So.. do you want a nice window in your kitchen? That is usually a nice thing for a kitchen. The kitchen has two windows already. This one would go over the sink, and we'd have to reconfigure the cabinets, but it is an option. Right now, we don't have money to redo this kitchen. Once the pipes are fixed, we are just going to cap the sink pipes and put up drywall. The house was a two-family (my Dad lived upstairs.) So we'll be using the upstairs kitchen, dining, and living room areas because it's more open and somewhat updated. Downstairs will be our bedrooms, which need new ceilings and floors. Eventually, we'll redo this downstairs kitchen so that in the future, we can sell it as a two-family because they are worth more in this area. But first, we have plumbing, electrical, and other things to fix, so we need to see how much that will cost before doing anything else. But no one expected to find a window in the wall!

Well, I just watched the plumber grab ahold of an old pipe, and it literally crumbled in his hand! I can't wait until we have working plumbing on the first floor again.
I have a lull in my work for the next couple of hours. I should go outside and do some more yard work, but it's 95 degrees with 60% humidity. I'm just not feeling up to taking that on.
Hope the rest of you are staying cool wherever you are...

We had wonderful fishing and a memorable trip!!

We always enjoyed our trips to SF. We were there several times when daughter and SIL lived in San Jose. My daughter got her Masters at San Jose State. We did all the touristy things and thoroughly enjoyed the city We have been really busy lately with normal and family stuff. Our nesting tables finally arrived. We went to Appleton and picked them up Wednesday. I will put together tomorrow. Yesterday, we had lunch with our daughter and caught up. The twins are at camp this week and are having a wonderful time. My SIL has a job driving the Packers from Lambeau Field to St. Norbert college where they practice in August. This is his 3rd year doing it and he loves it. He gets to meet all the players and coaches and attend some of the practices. Today, we had breakfast with my Sister-in-law and her hubby. They were passing through on their way to Upper Michigan. Monday, we are driving to Sheboygan to meet our granddaughter and significant other for dinner. They drive up from Milwaukee and we drive down from Green Bay and meet, sort of, in the middle. LOL, this has really been a month of relatives. I got a call from a cousin and he wants to get together sometime in August. We started August with an empty calendar and it is filling up quickly. We are going to have the twins a couple days and take them for an adventure. Rikki and I are going to Door County for a tram ride plus we still have cards, Book Club, Rikki's Crafting group, and my bike rides. We also both got our hearing aids and have follow up appts. The weather has been decent too. Everything is green and the crops look great. It's a nice summer here. Hope you all are enjoying your summers
