Hi All,
I can't believe we're almost to July! Can someone slow things down for me so I can catch up?
We have more renovations starting this Wednesday. They're supposed to take down the wall in the kitchen to get to a broken pipe, and fix the leak in the basement. Once that's completed they can begin the full bathroom renovation but I'm guessing that won't happen until after the holiday. But at least things are moving forward.
Last week we saw the Disney/Pixar movie Lightyear which was better than I expected. We still haven't seen the new Top Gun yet, but we might not get to it until after the 4th. If anyone here has seen it, have you enjoyed it?
I got back up into the 90s this weekend but we got our air conditioner in the bedroom window so it was tolerable. I can live with fans in the rest of the house, but I need the AC to be able to sleep.
So check-in and let us know how things are going where you are...

Monsoon season is here. I love the clouds and the rains.I have had some nice rain at my house. I just sat out in my patio and enjoyed the rainstorm last night. Also it dropped into the mid 70’s so I opened the doors for awhile. Still have not seen Cole the head of my wild cat family. I did get 4 tomatoes before the plant fried in the heat. I’m searching for some cactus to plant in my old flower garden and also by my pool. I don’t want to put in a drip system. With the water issues I’m looking to desert plants that can do well without extra water. I am enjoying watching Wimbledon this week. I got to walk around when we visited London many years ago. I would love to watch live.
I did see the New Top Gun. It was awesome. Well done story but the real live jets flying was worth the ticket. They did not use CG instead they shot real jets flying. Well worth the money to see it on the big screen.!!!

Top Gun was amazing and I'm not even a big Tom Cruise fan. It's definitely a must-see. Also saw the new Jurassic Park. It was neat seeing all the old stars back joining the current Jurassic crew but the movie wasn't that great.

We really, really enjoyed Top Gun. We also very much enjoyed Jurassic Park. We were fans from the very first movie and enjoyed them all. LOL, we are going to see the new Minions movie with grandkids on Friday. Looking forward to time with them. They will be staying over. We went to Milwaukee for a couple of days and visited family and got together with friends. My new chair arrived a month early which made us happy. The only thing we are still waiting for is a set of nesting tables. They pushed arrival time back to August now. Win some, lose some! We've been fine and are enjoying the summer. Trying to get through our list of fun things to do and having some success. I've really been enjoying my motorcycle again. We've been attending a lot of the kids' soccer and baseball games too. LOL, with cleaning and going through everything including cleaning the garage, I've dropped 13 pounds. I've also been walking outside and doing all our regular exercises so am having a good year. Our docs recommended we get the new Shingles shots even though we had the previous one. New research shows there are benefits to it so we got the first of two shots yesterday. They warned us about side effects and this time we got them. Should pass in a day or two so laying low today and tomorrow. Happy 4TH to you all and your families!!

Seems everyone is busy with house projects and yard work!!! I have three garden areas with shrubs/perennials/roses/bulbs, ALL of them chock-a-block full of thriving poison ivy. A couple months ago I decided I would take down all the wire fencing (to keep deer from eating everything, which didn't always work) and finally start dealing with it....that part was easy....then I procrastinated until the poison ivy was lushly growing!!!! and the deer had browsed on my hostas and roses ...so I finally got to work with a spray weed killer and am carefully spraying and attempting to gradually remove all the p.ivy and other running weeds....CAREFULLY. Not sure where I'm going to put all the vile stuff....right now I'm just making a big pile but will have to eventually move it somewhere after I'm sure everything is dead. I won't be able to take care of all garden areas this year, but at least it's a good start, and I'll start earlier next year. I did end up putting fencing back on one area that actually was in pretty good shape and has a nice shrub rose that's blooming and doing well, so the deer can't get at that. larryholmes , after reading your note a while ago I did get a deer deterrent spray, will probably apply that this weekend, and hope it helps keep them at bay a bit. I know it has to be repeated but if it works, it's worth it!!!! Happy to read all the good reviews of Top Gun Maverick. I have watched the opening scene of the first Top Gun movie on youtube MANY, MANY, MANY times. I love the jets taking off and the atmospheric music it starts out with and then launching into Kenny Loggins/Danger Zone. From the trailers for Maverick, it sounds like they have retained a subtle variation of that opening music, so I'm happy about that. Not sure if I'll be able to get to see it on the big screen. geezer2008 , congratulations on the weight loss.....at least that's a great consolation for the crummy chore of cleaning and sorting, etc.!! tycho657 , sorry to hear about your kitty....hope he makes his way back home.

Fjordmom, I'm so sorry you have to deal with poison ivy! That's the one thing that could make my situation worse. Luckily it just seems to be the non-poison variety. Oddly enough (and I may be jinxing myself here) but I've never had poison ivy despite being exposed to it. When I was a kid, my friend Charlie and I were playing in his backyard. Apparently, there was poison ivy. I never got it. He had it so badly that he was out of school for a week and that occurred more than once! Also, my Mom has never had poison ivy and she spent her entire childhood playing in the woods. My local weekly garbage removal hasn't given me a hard time about taking all of my gardening trash. I pack it up into big, brown contractor bags and they take it along with my weekly trash. So far I've gotten the ivy off of one side of the fence (3 - 8 foot panels) and most of the shed. I've also cleared it out of one corner but there's a lot more to go. On the upside, the plumber came this morning and fixed the leak in the basement. Whenever we took a shower, it rained in my basement. There's still a lot to do, but the contractors will be back after the holiday to tear apart the bathroom and kitchen. I can't wait! I hope everyone has a fun holiday weekend.

Fjordmom, my husband loved that opening sequence & used to play it full-blast thru our great stereo system. Surprising we aren’t all deaf now!
