I will copy and post this as our leader is traveling and posted this on last weeks thread.
Hi All,
How is everyone this week? I'm actually traveling, but I'll post more about that later. My sister and niece are still in town. Kate and I brought my niece with us to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets last week. I wasn't sure if my niece would sit through it all since the movie is 2 & 1/2 hours long and she's only 5. But she was totally into the film from beginning to end.
Unfortunately, my Mom has been sick most of the last week. She took a Covid test early on, but she's supposed to take another one today since her symptoms aren't getting better. It's a shame because her birthday is this week and we were planning on taking her out.
So let us know how things are going where you are...

I will be helping with food boxes for Easter with St Vince this week. Then I am off to camp and kayak until Monday. I have been starting to plan a trip to Texas in April of 2024 to see another total eclipse of the Sun. This was such an amazing thing to witness. Hopefully many of you will be able to travel near you to see this on on April 8, 2024. It will start in Texas and go up through the middle of the country. You need to make sure you get totality and not 99%. Big difference. I hope your Mom is well soon Christine so you can have a nice birthday for her.

Tycho, I think I am already in a perfect part of the country to see it, but I'm sure they will make that clear as it gets closer. Very cool that you can go to Texas to see it.

I hope you get a clear day. Last time I was in Madras,OR. I knew this would be perfect unless forest fires were going on. I could see 100 miles to the west and could watch totality come over the cascades and race towards me across the land before totality hit us. I could see 100 miles to the east during totality and see where the sun was still shining. NASA and many science groups were set up there as they knew this was going to be the best spot on the planet to view it. I know it will never be that good again but I am drawn to experience it again.

We usually have lousy luck when it comes to eclipses. It seems like they are usually obscured by clouds. Glad that some of you get to view them! We have had a very good week. We went shopping for and got our new patio furniture. Yesterday, we had Merry Maids in to deep clean our place and they did a wonderful job. Everything is DONE now and we can enjoy life again. We are just waiting on our new furniture to arrive and we want to get some new accessories for our home but have time to do that We went to the movies Monday and saw The Lost City. LOL, good escapism. Wednesday, we went to Book Club which we always look forward to. I reported on Mercy by Baldacci. I am currently reading The Recovery Agent by Evanovitch and I, Alex Cross by Patterson. Today, we are taking the twins to lunch and to see Dumbledore. We wish all of you and yours a HAPPY EASTER

Hi All,
We just got back from our mini-vacation. We spent four days in Newport, RI. If you’ve never been, it has beautiful ocean views, amazing 19th-century mansions, lots of small shops, and great seafood. It’s just before their prime season starts, but that worked out perfectly. About 70% of everything was already open but the prices and the crowds were much lower than they would be in just a few weeks.
We toured The Breakers and Marble House (two mansions built by the Vanderbilts) and wandered the Cliff Walk, a 3-mile path that goes along the coast and past many of the mansions. We also did a fair bit of shopping including several small boutiques for souvenirs, a local fudge shop, a local toffee shop, an art gallery, etc. We also found a great independent book store where between my husband, daughter, and I, we probably spent more than we should, but made the shop owner very happy.
It was a wonderful, relaxing trip. And then we came back home… Before we left, it had rained every day, so we were unable to mow the lawn. Yesterday, we pulled out our brand new electric lawnmower only to find that it wouldn’t start. The batteries are fully charged but it seems there might be a bad sensor somewhere. So we have to run it back to the store today. Hopefully, we can get a new one because our lawn is terribly long now!
Then, it was my Mom’s birthday. I thought my sister was ordering takeout from one of her favorite restaurants, but that didn’t happen, so I ended up running out to get it along with several other errands. In my haste, I left my house keys in a basket at the grocery store. When I got home, Todd was in the yard and the back door was open, so I didn’t need my keys to get in. I didn’t realize they were missing until we were leaving for my Mom’s. I ran all over the house looking for them (making us late) before realizing what I’d done. There was no time to go back and get the keys, so the store is holding them for me.
The birthday dinner went well, but then on the way home, we blew out a tire on the highway. I don’t know what we hit but it ripped open the sidewall. It was 11 o’clock at night and we were lucky we were at an exit where there was a well-lit gas station. On the upside, Kate was taught how to jack up a car. And did I mention we had our hamster with us, as my Mom and step-father were watching her while we were away?
So, it’s been an interesting week and it's not over yet. Hope you’re all having a good week.

I have a good friend who lives in RI. We spent the day in Newport touring and eating great seafood. I had my 1st Lobster Roll there.
