Hi All, Hope you had a great weekend. My sister and niece are visiting, and it was my sister's birthday. So my Mom made her a special birthday dinner on Saturday and we all got together. Since we've always lived in different places, we haven't gotten to do this together in decades, so it was a nice treat. Apparently the Disney movie Encanto is my 5-year-old niece's favorite movie. We had the soundtrack on and were all singing it around the table which was kind of funny. So how was your weekend? Check-in and let us know!

Missed The Rookie last night as I was watching The Grammy Awards. I stopped watching this a few years back as I didn’t follow most of the artists anymore. I use to try and keep up with music as a music teacher but gave up as music has really fallen off the last 10 years. This year felt a little better. I still hear many songs sound like someone singing a monotone 5 note song rambling about their life. BTS sounds the same on every song. I guess I’m just getting too old to enjoy the “new” music anymore.

Big homecoming supper last night. Dawn made 'toad in the hole' [British specialty with real British sausages], roasted Brussels sprouts, carrots, mashed potatoes, rolls, and her amazing cheesecake for dessert. Everything was super...especially having Chris back with us after 331 days! We don't want any more deployments. Dawn's father was British RAF and my father was USMC in WWII. Dawn was a nurse stationed with British Army in Southeast Asia and I had two tours in Vietnam. Both of our sons have each been activated twice from either Army Reserve or National Guard status to Regular Army active duty status then deployed. None of us has been actually injured at all during all this. This just might be enough times for us.

I had to laugh when you said you were too old to enjoy the new music. I remember back in the 80s there was a year that I felt the same way. I hated the new artists and the old performers were the ones I didn't like. Obviously I was much younger then but I remember thinking I must be getting too old. The next year or 2 I was back in the swing of things again.

We have been very busy with our renovating of our place. Two new chairs, loveseat, and nesting tables are on order. We completely emptied 3 closets and 2 cabinets. We tossed stuff that was old and never used and donated the rest that someone could use. We then cleaned the spaces and put back the stuff we used. On Saturday, we will do the last big closet and we will be done. In the kitchen, I moved the stove and refrigerator out from wall and cleaned those spaces too. We hired a company to deep clean our living spaces and will have carpets cleaned on the day we go on vacation in May. LOL, we are even getting some new patio furniture. Not too shabby for a couple pushing 80 if I do say so myself, LOL..... Tomorrow is our 48th Anniversary and we are taking the family out to celebrate at a local favorite place. No mess. No fuss. Just some fun

geezer, congratulations on 48 years of marriage! My husband and I will celebrate our 45th this June. Our closets could use a good cleaning out, too, lol.

Wow, geezer2008! Can I hire you and Rikki to come and clean out our place? That's impressive at any age. And congrats on your anniversary! I hope you both had a wonderful time.

Hi All,
How is everyone this week? I'm actually traveling, but I'll post more about that later. My sister and niece are still in town. Kate and I brought my niece with us to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets last week. I wasn't sure if my niece would sit through it all since the movie is 2 & 1/2 hours long and she's only 5. But she was totally into the film from beginning to end.
Unfortunately, my Mom has been sick most of the last week. She took a Covid test early on, but she's supposed to take another one today since her symptoms aren't getting better. It's a shame because her birthday is this week and we were planning on taking her out.
So let us know how things are going where you are...
