Hi All, Sorry, this post is so late today. Things have been busy. First, there was a bit of a birthday hangover (no alcohol involved.) We were at my Mom's late last night for my birthday and didn't get home until about midnight. Then I had to wake up early to get Kate ready for school. (FYI, she's home from school and currently asleep on the sofa.) This weekend, I handed my foster kitten over to the rescue group. I'm not as sure as I was with the previous three I fostered. One moment this grey kitten is on my lap and letting me pet him, the next he's hissing at me when I try to get him out of his cage. But the rescue group can spend more time with him than I can so hopefully he'll continue to come around. We also trapped six more cats to be spayed/neutered, so that's progress. We went out and bought a lawnmower today. My Dad didn't replace something unless it completely died, but that means that his lawnmower is very old. It's an old pull cord and I can never get it started. Even when Todd gets it going, it frequently stalls out. So, I said since I work from home, I'm willing to take over the majority of the yard work, but a new lawnmower was nonnegotiable. So we bought a new electric lawnmower with a rechargeable battery. But it doesn't look like I'll be using that lawnmower this week the way I expected. It's currently 25 degrees and snowing! Well, it's just flurries and I'm not expecting anything to come from it, but it's also not the warm, springlike weather for which I was hoping. So how are things where you are? Please check-in and let up know.

I came home from my week conducting in the cold building, and cold outside with Windsor cold. I made some chicken soup for me and a friend and her husband as she has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I'm staying in this week to recover. The soup already is making me feel better. Today is my daughters birthday. Sure wish I could be with her one of these years.
Electric lawn mowers are the best. Good choice. I have my tomato plant on the patio. We are suppose to get rain tomorrow. I hope to get some lettuce, snow peas and sweet peppers planted this week. I will be home this summer so I want a garden again.

Chris is still being out-processed/de-briefed at Ft Hood. Apparently, there are some '...really interesting...' aspects to his 36-hour trip home from Amman through Baltimore to Ft Hood. They included some '...unusual diversions and one return to a previously departed airport...'. Hum, I am honestly not sure I want to know either. Anyway, he may make it home in the next couple days. Today was one of those days where you just never stop running. I woke up early to make a batch of cookies for my daughter to take to debate club. (Oatmeal chocolate chip. She said the group inhaled them all in under 5 minutes so I guess that means they were a hit.)
Then I spent a good portion of my morning on the phone with banks and insurance as I'm still getting through my father's estate. The bank keeps getting pieces of information wrong. Like misspelling my name or getting digits wrong in my social security or driver's license #. I know I've filled out the paperwork correctly, but when I get their copies back, there are mistakes and I've already had the process stalled twice because of it. It's very frustrating!
Then my husband and I argued over hedge trimmers. I want an extendable one since we have a wall in the backyard that's about 15 feet high and overgrown with ivy. My husband thinks the extendable one is too unwieldy for me and we should get a regular one with a long blade and he says he'll help. I know he means well, but with his work schedule, the window of opportunity for him to help is small, and I don't think either of us should be up on a ladder with a hedge trimmer. Any of you gardening experts please feel free to chime in with any advice.
Finally, after getting some regular work done, running a bunch of errands, and picking Kate up from after-school debate club, I finally got home and got comfortable...only to have my daughter say she forgot to tell me she needed to get small sheets of balsa wood for a group science project at school TOMORROW. As you might expect, I wasn't happy, especially since no one seemed to have it in stock. I got lucky that Michael's Crafts had a few lone pieces left on the shelf. It should be just enough. Then it was back home for a late dinner. I still had work to do but managed to finish it while watching This Is Us.
I really hope tomorrow is just a little quieter, but I'm not about to bet any money on it.

It's been a while since I stuck in my 2 cents worth here. We were thinking of moving this summer but after visiting places and discovering rents have gone nuts here too, we have decided to stay where we are. Rents have always been very reasonable in this area but are trending much higher now. We decided to make some cosmetic changes and replace our old lamps, loveseat, and 3 chairs. We have always cleaned our own home and are not messy people but we have decided to have a cleaning service come in and do a deep clean on our place. The carpets will all be cleaned the day we go on vacation in May. Rikki and I will empty all our closets, go through everything, and clean them. We also plan on getting a bigger dehumidifier and seeing what is out there to cool our place better. The manager here is going to replace our blinds and check the AC to see that it is working properly. Yesterday, we took our daughter out for lunch and had some one on one time with her. We and her enjoy doing that. She was the one to suggest we do that once a month. This works great as she can pick a day when she isn' t so busy with family and working. Two weeks ago, we went to Iowa for a few days and had a nice getaway Last week, we had the twins for a couple days. We went to the movies, played games, and ate all their favorite foods. Being 11, they are much busier than before. We always ask but they still enjoy coming to our home which we are very thankful for. We have taken them to the movies since they were toddlers and out to lunch. We have a thumbs up-thumbs down system for picking shows. We watch the previews and majority rules, LOL. Hope everyone is well! Have a good week
