Good morning, all! I hope your March is going well. I can't believe it's more than half over, but spring is officially here! I've got my fingers and toes crossed that the weather stays nice for a while. I'm actually fostering another kitten. The three from last week (Nancy, Bess, and George) are with the rescue group to be adopted. I hope to get an update soon. This new one is a tougher case. He's solid grey and gorgeous, but he's already 4 months old. When dealing with feral kittens, anything after three months makes it more difficult to become acclimated to people. But this guy is so cute that I wanted to give him a chance. So far, he lets me handle him, but he's still scared and looking to run. I'm hoping I can get that to change so he can go up for adoption soon. This looks to be another busy week. There's still plenty of paperwork to fill out for my father's estate. We're talking to contractors about work that needs to be done on the house. I'm working on a movie script for a producer. She wants me to tweak one of the storylines in the script and then we're supposed to do a video table read with actors she's used in other roles. I'm excited to hear other people actually say the words I've written. And then of course there's my regular job! But today my husband has off and he wants to take me and Kate to a burger place near his work. He says it has the best shakes and sundaes. Let's just say he didn't have to twist our arms to get us on board for this plan. So what's going on where you are? Please, check-in and let us know.

Well, the yard work has begun with four hours pulling some grass-like weeds out the rose beds. I follow instructions. Still, it was great to be out in the sun. We have rainy periods for the next couple days. We have not heard if our older son is on his way home today from his year-long deployment in Mid-east. Chris will be returning to Ft Hood, Texas, for 'deactivation' processing from Active Army back to Virginia Army National Guard status. His wife, 16-year-old daughter, and 14-year-old son, plus mother and father are eager to get him home! He learned to speak and write Arabic immediately. Everyone was surprised that he just 'got it' right away without any problem at all. I learned soldier-Vietnamese which got me through but probably startled people because I am certain my Vietnamese was hardly fit for mixed company. Chris was able to teach several military law classes for Jordanian military lawyer counterparts who wanted to know how our army did things. All this has caused a stir since both armies would like to continue this cooperation with the arriving troops but have no idea how to achieve it. Chris has NOT volunteered to stay longer to help with development of a program. I'll let you know when we have our hands on him here at home!

UPDATE: They sent him out on a plane late yesterday. I suppose he will be at Ft Hood later today. There are several very detailed administrative tasks which must be completed to properly reclassify his status from 'active duty' military to 'reserve component' military. Nevertheless, his return to Winchester is progressing!

Congratulations and please thank him for his service for us.

Christine, that's so exciting about your script writing and congratulations!!! Are you nervous or have you already done things like this (pardon my ignorance since I don't always keep up with things here)? I love to hear your kitty rescue stories (and Tycho's), I just can't imagine being able to let them go, but it's wonderful what you're doing. I finally looked at my two "kitties" papers to see when they were born and they will be 15!!!!! this summer (I've probably already babbled about this before?), but so far they are doing well, naps are the order of the day. I actually bottle raised them.
Larry, so happy to hear your son is at least in the US and closer to being on his way home !
Weather has been its usual rollercoaster, we did get a 74 degree day last weekend which was lovely. All snow is gone right now so I can peruse the yard & gardens but I'm leery about raking leaves away or pruning things back -- I don't trust Mother Nature. Still it's nice to see daffodils starting to emerge and think about annuals I will be buying, etc.
And slightly off topic, but does anyone here have a FREE app or way to get photos (on my MAC) uploaded to the board and into a message? (I sure wish darn Photobucket was not so expensive.) I tried last night to get a pic of my goats uploaded but was not able to get anything to work. I don't have any social media accounts like Twitter/Facebook/Instagram and don't want to.

Fjordmom, go into iPhoto and pull up the photo you want to use. Click FILE on the top bar. Then click EXPORT from the drop down menu. That should generate a window giving you options. Where it says JPEG, click on the down arrow to the right. You'll want to choose LOW (smallest size). You can also give it a title of your choice. Then hit Export and export to Desktop. Once it's on your desktop, you should be able to add it as an attachment to any post here at PFJ by clicking on the Add Attachment button on the top right of the post. Then click Add files, and click the photo from your list. Then hit Insert and Done. Let me know if that works. Good luck.

Happy to hear spring has sprung. I looked at the weather and thought we would have 80’s here in Tucson where I am conducting the “ Frustrated Maestros at the National FMCA convention Rally. We were freezing inside the building they had us rehearsing in but it was better than the downpour and thunder and lightning outside the first day. We are at the Pima County Fairgrounds. I never know who I will get in the group or their level of skill. I have been pleasantly surprised by the new people we have this time. I have an abundance of saxophones. 2 tenors and 4 alto sax. The last alto who arrived yesterday is a retired player from Orlando. Guess where he played? He played for Disney. It is so fun to say to the band “ just have some fun with verse 2 and to have him and one of the Tenor sax players just improvise. The choir was cheering the first time I did this. I knew they would rock it. We rehearse today outside and start performances tomorrow for breakfast for 3 days. Stressful for me but we do have fun. It has been surprisingly cold but tomorrow should be in the 80’s by the afternoon. I hope the morning isn’t too cold.
Larry glad your son is back on USA soil. That is always a relief for family.
Nice you are caring for the little gray kitten. I hope he works his way into your heart. Your house needs a cat 🐱
Ok, I’m off to set up the sound system for our last rehearsal this morning.

Tycho, congrats on your new gig! I think it's awesome that you're still so involved in music and sharing your talents!
Larry, I hope your reunion happens very soon and that it's as satisfying as you've been dreaming of. You and your family have sacrificed and given so much to the service of our country!
Speaking of weather, last week we finally crept above freezing most of the days and managed to melt off most of the snow. Only the areas that had dense drifts were left. Then we got a whole day of rain yesterday so the ground was fully visible for the first time since December. I should have known it was too good to be true! I got up this morning and the whole world was white again. We got 2 inches of snow overnight! This year winter just won't let us go!

Yard work at our house is on hold for now. It's either been too wet or too windy for my husband to whack the weeds. He did spray them so most have died. Unfortunately they would blow into the pool and that would be a total mess. It can't stay windy forever, can it? Otherwise the weeds will look like bushes!
The price at the pump yesterday was $4.59/gal. Luckily we shop at Safeway and they have gas rewards, with each one worth 10 cents off/gal. Our 6 rewards brought the price down to $3.99--still a lot but better. We're not driving as much and try to combine errands. With all the traffic in Phoenix, you'd never know gas is so expensive.
We're happy the baseball lockout is over. Too bad our team isn't any good yet. At this rate, we'll be lucky to end up over .500, lol.

Our son is back in USA at 0315 after unexplained long delays! We'll likely learn more about all that later. The actual timing and routing back to home in Winchester is also unknown. We are all hoping it will be very soon.

I feel like I've been out of touch for awhile. PTVJ, I'm so thrilled for your script to get an actual table read! That's so exciting! Larry, I'm so happy your son is back. That has to be a huge relief! Tycho, that's really cool about the concert. Sounds like a lot of fun especially to get the unexpected talent.
