I know February is a short month but it certainly went by fast! We had a nice weekend. I got my hair cut! I haven't had it cut since August and it was driving me crazy. I went much shorter this time. Don't laugh, but I was inspired by the character Mirabel from the movie Encanto. So, my long curly hair is much shorter now, but I needed a change, and so far, I really like it. Then Kate and I slept over at my Mom's and watched Pride and Prejudice. We are all big fans. At 12-years-old, Kate has already read the book three times. Yesterday morning, Kate and I went to see a movie. We watched a bunch of trailers online the night before and I let her choose. I thought she was going to want to see the action/adventure movie Uncharted, but she chose Death on the Nile. We both really enjoyed it. We saw the earliest show because my husband wasn't off of work until about 3am the night before, so he slept in, and then Kate and I picked up bagels for the three of us on the way home. In case you hadn't heard, there is a cream cheese shortage! I don't understand why, I'm just thankful we were able to track some down for our bagels. We spent the rest of the day hanging out at home watching the Nascar race and then The Rookie last night. So overall, it was a nice, relaxing weekend. Check-in and let us know how things are going where you are!

This weekend, it was time for me to pay the piper and do our farm and personal taxes. BORING! However, I got them done and now plan to reward myself by watching a bunch of Hallmark movies the rest of the week and starting a new book.

Nathanfan I am in awe of your doing your taxes. I have a tax person do mine. I have no clue. That was John's thing. Not many kids love Pride and Pride and Prejudice, I have to say I had a hard time reading that in my high school English class. She takes after her Mom for sure. Finally got to the Chihuly exhibit yesterday at the botanical Gardens. It was spectacular. It is the 3rd time they have had his work on exhibit here. I missed the first 2 times. I posted pictures on my facebook page. Heading out tomorrow for a week in my RV with back to back campouts with my 2 groups. It will be all "dry" camping. I have getting my propane, generator and water all checked out as I will not have electricity or water. The weather has turned nice again. I just hope it doesn't get too hot as I will not want to run the generator for the AC to keep my kitties cool.

Today I received a King Cake from the nice people who make the TV show, Queen Sugar, which airs on the OWN network. I've reviewed it since the beginning and it's going to air its seventh and final season this fall. The show is filmed in Louisiana. For those who don't know, the King Cake is a New Orleans tradition. It comes from the Biblical story of the three kings who bring gifts to Baby Jesus and is served anytime between Epiphany and Easter. It's a blend of coffee cake and cinnamon roll with yellow, green, and purple icing – the colors of Mardi Gras. Hidden within is a plastic King Cake baby. Tradition has it that whoever finds the baby is tasked with bringing a King Cake to next year's party. The cake is huge for just three people so we haven't found the baby yet, but it is delicious!

LOL, we do our "living" Monday to Friday. Monday, we took our daughter to lunch for some us time with just her. She enjoyed it so much that she wants to do it every month. Tuesday, we did our shopping. We are home today. Tomorrow, we are going to a felting and quilt shop Rikki likes and will eat at a favorite place. Friday, we are going to the movies. We stay home weekends to avoid crowds.
Both Daughter and SIL are fully recovered from Covid which we are thankful for!!!

My husband's brother died very early Sunday morning. He had suffered from the effects of Parkinsons for many years. He was fully vaccinated but got covid anyway and that turned into pneumonia. We're just thankful he isn't suffering anymore. He was 74.
Our weather has warmed up a lot this week. It's been in the low 80s with sunny skies and light breezes. Perfect for pulling weeds after all the rain we've had recently. The wild flowers should be blooming soon, along with all the other stuff that makes us sneeze and our eyes water.
Christine, we've noticed the cream cheese section at the grocery store is about empty. There are plenty of the 8oz packages, but the soft and flavored kinds are nowhere to be found. Very strange. It seems every week something different is out of stock.
We're disappointed that MLB has canceled opening day and the first two series of the regular season. Spring training is when a lot of local businesses make their money. Now those games are up in the air. Hopefully owners and players can come to terms so the whole season isn't lost.

I *should* be working on my taxes but catching up here is MUCH more fun! Weather continues to be a rollercoaster, we get a foot of snow, followed eventually by days like today where temps will reach 60 and then rain tomorrow. I'm getting used to it and spring is not too far away. I am trying to focus on the plants that I already have and manage to survive, and not add to my workload by buying new perennials (because THEN I have to find a place to put them and actually PLANT them!!!!) ... but I couldn't resist a couple David Austin roses, I hope to move my roses to a bit sunnier spot, without rampant poison ivy, they have been gradually withering away/dying out because it's such a poor spot.
Otherwise all is well, the goats are starting to lose some of their underlying winter coat so for sure spring is coming!
