The year keeps moving forward. We had 80 yesterday but today it is down into the 60's with rain for tomorrow afternoon and thru the night. I have tickets to go and see the "Chihuly in the Desert" at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden Wed afternoon. I am hoping the rain will be gone by then. We scheduled to go at 4pm hoping to see the exhibit in the beautiful sunlight and then with the lights after dark. The view should be wonderful in both settings. Has anyone seen the Chihuly exhibit around the country?

Well, it was another interesting week in owning an old home. Since the house was set up as a two-family, there's a kitchen upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs was my Dad's. Since his passing, I've been cleaning stuff up. So the other day I was washing some stuff in his kitchen sink. A few minutes go by and my daughter is yelling up the stairs for me to come down quick. I run down to find that it's raining through the ceiling into my kitchen.
I'm guessing a pipe cracked, but since everything is dry under the sink, it must be in the wall. We've had a handful of these type of incidents over the last five years. The house is over 100 years old, and I'm thinking all of the plumbing may need to be repiped. There's little point in investing in a renovation only to have another pipe crack and ruin things.
On the upside, I have a couple of friends who are plumbers (1 current and 1 retired). I'll probably get estimates within the next couple of weeks.
Did I mention I always wanted to live in a new house? This is why.

Sorry but it still doesn’t work. Facebook links don’t seem to work on this site.

It figures, we get rain so rarely but today when I wanted to go to the outside Botanical Gardens it is going to rain all afternoon and be cold. So I had to change my tickets to next Monday. We do need the rain and snow in the mountains for sure. I'm hoping for some great views of 4 Peaks tomorrow with snow. Beautiful but I don't have to shovel it or drive in it.

Teresa, I'm with you on the not shoveling snow and not driving in it. Right now it's 45 and raining. At least the weather will be back to normal next week for your Botanical Garden outing. Looking forward to seeing snow on the Four Peaks tomorrow, too.
We got our Fed tax refund a week or so ago and want to update the lighting in our kitchen. It has a dome fixture with florescent tubes and a fan in the middle. The house was built in 1985 and dome ceilings were all the rage back then. I'd like to have some smaller fixtures with LEDs.
The AZ health department will no longer give daily covid cases and deaths numbers. Hospitalizations are down so we'll now be getting weekly updates. 60% of the people have been vaccinated. I hope this means we're turning the corner on the virus.

We're still in the deep freeze here in western Wisconsin, and yesterday we added 6-7 more inches of snow. Last night it was -8 overnight and the high temp today is +8. WooHoo! We've got 3 more nights of below 0 temps and then we MIGHT get up around 30 over the weekend. It's been a COLD and WINDY winter!
I'm trying to get myself fired up to tackle our taxes this week. I do them for our farm operation as well as our personal stuff and it's a LOT of paperwork.
I finished reading an intriguing book a couple of days ago called 'Before We Were Yours." It's kind of historical fiction, based on an orphanage in the South in the 1930's, but there's also a fantastic mystery to the story.

With the cold and rain yesterday we put off visiting the Botanical Garden yesterday. We have rescheduled for next week. I had to break down and turn on the heat this morning before the sun hit the solar panels. Spent the day in the garage with some of my camping ladies cleaning out and throwing out lots of stuff from my husbands workshop. I need to find a good place to sell some good woodworking tools that I don't think I will ever use. Nice to see some empty spots now in the garage. They will be back again for the 2nd half.
