Hi All, Well, it's definitely February. It's sleeting here this morning, but I think it's supposed to stop this afternoon. At least it's not terribly cold. We're at 31 degrees right now. Later in the week, it's supposed to reach 50! But this is definitely Monday. I slept through my alarm this morning and Kate missed the bus. Luckily, I was able to drive her to school, and with the icy road conditions, some of the busses were running behind so she likely wasn't marked as late. In other news, I will finally be certified as the executor of my father's estate at the end of this week. With the county offices being shorthanded thanks to Covid, it's been a slow process. We can't move ahead with probating his will until I'm certified, so it will be good to get that whole process moving. Many of the banks/financial institutions won't give me much info on his accounts until I'm certified, so we're still figuring out the details of his estate. I'm grateful to have my husband to help me with all of this. It's been like taking on another job. How is your week starting out so far? Check-in and let us know.

I will be heading out camping on Thursday to a state park on the Colorado River near Lake Havasu. They are saying we might see 80 this weekend. A good friend broke her ankle yesterday as she stepped off the curb at the hospital getting her mammogram. If you are going to brake your ankle, next to the Emergency Room where you retired recently seems like a good place. She has weak bones and has been trying to be careful. Glad it’s her left leg so she can still drive. I am making progress sorting thru closets and trunks and throwing orgiving away lots of stuff I don’t need anymore. My real focus for the next 2 weeks is creating new lead sheets for the National FMCA Rally in Tucson mid May. I will again be the conductor for the Frustrated Maestros. I now know why they call themselves Frustrated…

Well, I finally got back to physical therapy today after over a month's absence. Between my Dad dying and then having Covid, I wasn't quite up to it for a while. And I think going back was made a little harder because my father had also been going to my physical therapist for a torn rotator cuff. But the other day I was with my daughter at the mall and after about 30 minutes, I realized I was limping. I didn't go through two surgeries this last year to still be limping! So I went back to PT today. My physical therapist is very good and so very nice. He quickly assessed that my hip flexor is weak and drew up a plan to strengthen it over the next several weeks. And having a solid plan in place for a full recovery is making me feel more positive. And it was 50 degrees today and sunny! I know it's still February but that really made me hopeful that spring will be here soon.

Winchester may reach 60 today...then, late Saturday into early Sunday snow is anticipated! Only 38 days until Chris [our older son] is expected to depart Mid-east from this year long 29th Infantry Division deployment. We [his wife and their two teenaged kids plus Dawn and I] are really getting 'short timeritis'. The division returns to America as a unit through Fort Hood, Texas. Hopefully the division will complete out-processing/demobilization then be returning to northern Virginia quickly. You can bet that we will all be a Fort Belvoir when the buses arrive from airport.

All of you talking about the warm weather has me a bit envious! Last night it got down to -12 at our place and the wind chill was in the -20's. Today, we'll be lucky to get to zero. We've had very few days above average since the first of the year and a boatload of days and nights in the deep freeze. It sure would be nice to get back into the twenties. Folks around here would be out jogging in shorts!
Last night we hosted a family birthday party for my mother-in-law. It was her 98th birthday! She really enjoyed the dinner and seeing all of the grandkids and great grandkids for cake and ice cream afterwards. She's still living alone in her home out on the farm and makes lunch every day for for my husband and his brother as they work the farm. She's still driving during the daylight to places she's familiar with and is 100% there mentally. She's quite the force of nature!

Yesterday it was 55 degrees, actually sat on the porch for my morning coffee (dressed warmly ). Has been 40-50ish for the last 3 days, which is good because we have a 2 inch think coat of ice on a lot of the driveway that doesn't get direct sunshine...always involves an incline, right? I was watching the river of water coursing over the ice yesterday! Today we had an an inch of snow in morning, supposed to get another inch tonight, but then clear for a while and back to teens overnight and then .......high temp and RAIN end of week! This winter has been so weird. Just hoping with a lot of sand/salt we can manage to make headway with the ice that's still left on the driveway and get back to dirt! Happy Valentine's Day!
