Hi All, I have some sad news to share. My Dad died last week. It was completely unexpected. I had just seen him that morning. He had his coffee in hand and was happily taking my daughter to her bus stop. At 5 pm that evening, a Detective and two uniformed police officers were at my door to give me the notification. As horrible as it was, I couldn't help thinking that it was happening just like it does on TV. As the medical examiner explained it to me, they believe it was a widowmaker heart attack. He was hiking on a trail at the time. Other hikers called 911 but he was gone long before the ambulance got there. We're all in shock. His mother (my grandmother) lived to be 96, and anyone who knew my Dad expected him to live another 20 years. He did not have a diagnosed heart condition. Here is a memorial/tribute page if you'd like to check it out. brookdalefh.com/tribute/details/353/Alfred-Orlando/obituary.html#tribute-start

Christine -
I'm so sorry to hear this! The memorial/tribute page is a very fitting and moving tribute to him. He definitely had a very full and interesting life, and what a great smile!!!!! He obviously enjoyed life to the fullest. I'm glad you got to see him that morning.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Take care of yourself! I wish I could give you a big hug in person.

I would have loved to meet your amazing Father. His memories will live on with his children and Grandchildren who were able to spend quality time with him. Sounds like he did do it his way and went out the way he wanted. 💞

He looked like the picture of health and it sounded like he enjoyed life to the fullest. I think most of us would like to go quickly like this doing something we love, but the suddenness is so hard on family and friends. I can't imagine your shock & sorrow. You have my deepest sympathy. I hope your many wonderful memories will carry you through this difficult time.

Christine, I'm so sorry to hear about your father's passing. The written tribute will be a comfort for family and friends to look back on one day. Your daughter is lucky to be of an age that she'll remember him and their special times together.

Christine, my wife and I send you our condolences. Heart attacks can come without any warning, as I can attest as I had one when I was 45, despite being in the gym 5 days a week and long hikes on the weekend; it can just happen and we are so sorry to hear that it did for your Dad.
In your heart, in your memories, he will live on. In stories that you pass on to your children, he will live on. That is really the best legacy we can have and leave to our families, and that is what he left for you.
Again, we are so very sorry for your loss.

Fjordmom, tycho657, marschg, larryholmes, motowncf, ibmjas, geezer2008, DrvrTrnr, and RG, Thank you all for the kind words. It means more than I can say. With my sister in Montana, most of the details have been left to me and my husband, and my daughter and I getting Covid last week definitely made things even more exhausting. Thankfully, Kate and I are starting to feel better, and Todd and I are organizing all of the things that need to be handled as we move forward. It’s a process and it’s just going to take time. It’s ironic that we had tried to move two or three times over the last decade and it never worked out. Now, I’m grateful that my daughter was here and got to spend so much time with her grandfather. I know she’ll carry that with her always. Once again, I appreciate you all. Your friend, Christine
