It's the last week of 2021...and I can't say I'll be sad to see it go. I'm sorry I haven't been on the board much over the last week or so, but I've had family visiting and it can be a little overwhelming. As much as I enjoy the holidays, I'm looking forward to things getting back to normal next week. Let us know how your holiday has been and if you have any plans for New Year's Eve. And I hear much of the country is getting snow. I'm thankful that we haven't seen any as of yet and I'm hoping I haven't just jinxed myself! So check-in and let us know how things are going where you are.

Our Christmas was great. We were able to FaceTime for an hour with our older son [Chris] who is deployed in Jordan. His family had joined us for the day which included a superb dinner that Dawn prepared. Best Christmas present was his announcement that he is scheduled to return in late March! Chris is likely to be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel soon. I already have some of my old LTC rank insignia ready for him. Both our sons have been wearing pieces of my old 'brass' though their military service. It was a supreme honor for me when they asked if they could do that. Our New Year's Eve plan is to stay home and try to remain awake until midnight.

Worst Christmas ever as my kidney stone had not passed. Great birthday as the stone passed on the 26th. Loved my 2 hour FaceTime with family in the east since I’m not trying to fly yet.

We're having another gloomy, rainy, cold day. I seem to remember the local weather people telling us a couple months ago that we'd be having a dry winter. HA! When this weather clears out tomorrow, another storm will arrive Thursday, lasting through the weekend. It will be colder and rainier than it is today. Not exactly chamber of commerce weather, lol.
The best thing about hosting a holiday dinner is having leftovers. I made ham and scalloped potatoes for dinner, and thinking about chili for the weekend. There's nothing like comfort food when the weather is nasty.
Here's wishing everyone a Happy Healthy New Year. Stay safe out there.

I love the cloudy and rainy days as we don't get them often. Just happy to not be out camping in this weather

My daughter asked for blue highlights in her hair as a Christmas present. (Her best friend has purple highlights.) I think my Mom was shocked I said yes, but she's a great kid who gets straight A's, and I figured, what's the harm. Now she's very excited to head back to school and show off her new style.

I like the blue hair😎 I’m ready for this year to be gone. This morning I was up early to head back to the hospital for a CT scan with “contrast”. Well I backed out of my garage and noticed the car didn’t feel right. I got out to see my back tire was totally flat . So backed in the house and a call to my friend who came and took me. Upon returning home I had to get out my compressor to pump it up myself after a call to my Roadside service only to discover that my “tow” car is not included in my plan. . Good news was that they didn’t need to replace the tire. They just plugged it. No charge at Discount Tire. I’m going to just stay home now until 2022 arrives. 🎉🎵🎶🙈 Stay safe and Happy New Year 🎊🎆

We just got notification from the school that Monday will be an all-virtual day. Tuesday through Friday will be early dismissal with no lunch so that the kids don't have to remove their masks.
So, I guess we're ringing in 2022 with plenty of Covid. My friend who is a nurse just found out she's being transferred to the Covid ward on Monday because of staffing shortages. She worked in the Covid ward for weeks during 2020. She said this time is different. A lot more people died then. Now, fewer people are dying but the entire system is overwhelmed because so much of the staff has Covid.
Here's to hoping we get through this surge quickly. Stay safe, everyone.

I've spent most of this week recovering from last week! I had 12 for a big dinner on Christmas Day and by the time the cleanup was done near bedtime, I was more than ready for some down time! However, despite the long hours of preparation, the day together with family was wonderful and I wouldn't want it any other way. This week I had a fun play day with one of my grandsons and have been catching up on year end kinds of things. No plans for New Year's. The temps this weekend are going to be below 0 with wind chills around -25 to -35 so we're staying at home in front of the fireplace! BRRRRRRRRR!!!!
