Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate! This is the big week, and as usual, it's feeling a little overwhelming.
Our tree is up and decorated. My sister and my niece have arrived. My Mom and step-father are scrambling as their furniture just arrived in their new home yesterday. There are boxes everywhere! We went over last night to help, but as that was my husband's only day off and he has to work crazy hours all week (and through Christmas) I don't know that we'll be there to do much until Christmas Eve.
As such, we've decided to cater Christmas Eve dinner. We're placing the order now. It will just make things much easier on everyone.
I still have a couple more batches of cookies to make, but the majority of the presents are wrapped and all of the Christmas cards went out last week.
I also have my follow-up appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. I should be cleared to drive, even though I don't have a car, but that's a whole other issue.
So how is your week going so far? Check-in and let us know!

I am certainly pleased to see you have a follow-up appointment without any indication of problems. Please be very careful when snowy, slippery conditions occur. Well, 'snowless' Christmas forecast here in western Virginia. Dawn has made five very large fruit cakes, dozens of mincemeat tarts, and six to eight bags of spiced-glazed pecan halves. Imagine my pleasure filled task as taste tester. Some of each already received in Mideast by our deployed son. His family is joining us for Christmas dinner. Similar package of goodies has been received by our other son and his family in Minnesota. We are safe and warm and fully vaccinated...observing any restrictions. Merry Christmas!

Yeah, we had tickets to take the family to Aladdin on Broadway. It would have been my 5-year-old niece's first Broadway show. Unfortunately, most of Broadway has closed down once again due to Covid. My cousins were going to see The Rockettes but that was canceled too. Maybe we'll have better luck in 2022. Yesterday, we were at my Mom's new house to help out. There's an elevator in the house. It goes from the basement to the second floor. The house is in an over-55 community so this was one of the options in certain homes and since my Mom has already had one knee replaced, they decided to splurge on it. But this is where things get interesting. My husband and daughter were trying it out, and all went well until they got down to the basement. The elevator stopped but the door would not open. They had to use the phone to call us and say they were locked in! Turns out that a breaker gets tripped when the elevator goes down to the basement. Supposedly it all worked fine during the inspection a week before. Well, there's an elevator tech coming tomorrow morning to check it out. But Kate now refuses to use the elevator without her Dad. If they get stuck, they'll get stuck together. She and Todd are elevator buddies and if he's not there, she'll use the stairs.

My husband and I got our booster shots today. It was quick and painless. Now I can tell something went into my arm. It feels like I bumped it on something and hopefully will feel normal tomorrow.
We finished our Christmas shopping a couple weeks ago. Everything is wrapped and under the tree and in the kids' stockings. We're having an afternoon dinner at our house, and our younger daughter's boyfriend's mom invited us to Christmas Eve and his dad invited us for Christmas night. We feel like social butterflies, lol.
We're expecting a couple storms to come through starting Thursday and lingering until early next week. They will bring much needed rain for us with snow in the high country. I hope everyone has a good holiday weekend.

I have been in pain since Sunday with a kidney stone. I had no idea what was causing the pain until I couldn’t take it any longer and went to the emergency room on Tuesday morning. With covid going crazy I really didn’t want to go but I had to. I was pleasantly surprised at how empty the emergency room was when I arrived. I have wonderful pain meds to help until it passes.I’m still waiting It will be a very quiet Christmas.
