Hi Everyone, Well, December is on its way! I got our Countdown to Christmas up on time (Dec. 1st). We have lights strung up across one wall in the kitchen with 24 small stockings and bags attached. Every day my daughter gets a candy or a small present. I started this when she was three. She says I need to continue it through her college years! We have the Christmas lights up on the house now. Maybe I’ll post a picture later. We haven’t gotten our tree yet. That will likely have to wait until this weekend. DrvrTrnr - I understand a little about the Disneyland lights. My next-door neighbor goes crazy with the lights and decorations. It’s a small house and a small yard. You wouldn’t think he could put that much on it, but I don’t think there’s a square inch that isn’t lit up. It’s very festive, but as my bedroom window faces their home, I need to make sure the blinds are closed and curtains are drawn if I want to get any sleep. And I completely understand your visiting beagles! When I managed an animal shelter, you always knew when you had a beagle in the kennel. They are sweet dogs but they are NOT quiet. larryholmes, I don’t think I’ve ever had a mincemeat tart. But yes, all good bakers need a qualified taste tester. geezer2008, my daughter and I were just making the list of cookies we want to make this year. With my mom in the middle of moving (she usually does half the cookies), Kate and I will have to make them all this year! We’ll probably start this week with the ones we can freeze. tycho657, I believe the new REAL ID was postponed nationally until May 2023 but every state is rolling it out at different times. I don’t think NJ is doing it just yet, for which I’m grateful. I hate having to wait in line at the DMV. And Kate and I both need eye exams but with how busy this month looks, it may have to wait until January.

Arizona use to issue you a license when you were 21 and not require a new one, unless you moved, until you were 65. Needless to say the TSA would not accept these out dated pictures and licenses so they made us get new ones a few years ago. My daughter moved to Maryland in 2001 and still uses her license🙀

I had no idea other states were so lax. We need to renew our licenses every four years in NJ. I was actually thrilled that during Covid, they allowed us to do it online and we didn't need to bring the paperwork and come down to the DMV for a new photo.

Just got my booster shot this afternoon. Our county wellness center has a vaccination clinic three days a week. When I first got there I thought about turning around and coming back another time because the line was out the door! But I'm glad I decided to stay. It was so well organized that I was in and out in under 30 minutes (and that includes the 15-minute wait after the shot).
Everyone was just so nice, from the people in line, those monitoring the line and checking paperwork, to the nurses giving the shots, that it was almost oddly fun.
I guess we're lucky to have so many people getting boosters. Our county has 84% with at least one shot and 72% fully vaccinated. And with everyone now bringing in their children to get vaccinated, the county designated Fridays as pediatric vaccination days. You can bring your kids any day they're open but on Fridays, they have pediatric specialists available. It's a good plan. If the kids have any reaction, they have the weekend to recover and likely won't have to miss school.
The booster did make me extremely tired but that's likely coupled with an intense physical therapy session this afternoon. I got the shot at 5 pm, went home and had dinner, and meant to lie down for just a quick rest at 8 pm. Well, I didn't wake up until after midnight and I'm still tired so I'm headed back to bed.
Hope you all are having a good week.

Last night I wrote out about 50 Christmas cards while watching the pilot episode of Castle with my daughter. She doesn't remember seeing it previously, and I haven't done a series rewatch in a long time. Thankfully, she liked it and asked when we could watch episode 2!

I wonder when she will make the connection between Beckett and her name 😎

Winter cold has arrived in Phoenix. We had to put the heat on for the first time Wednesday. We were expecting a cold rain Thursday night into Friday with lows in the upper 40s.
I renewed my driver's license online Thursday. It should come in the mail in 10 days or so. It was nice not having to go to the MVD.
We recently found out that my husband's sister and her husband both have covid. He was vaccinated, but she refused to be. Needless to say, she's a lot sicker than he. My husband had talked to her many times trying to convince her to get the shots. He told her he didn't want her to get sick and die. He talked to her on the phone Thursday for less than a minute and she was totally exhausted from that. She's not a young woman and I hope she can recover from this.
On a happier note, my husband is getting a new iPad for Christmas. The one he has now is the 2nd generation and is 8 years old! It keeps crashing. He definitely got his money's worth out of it. The new one is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. He can't wait, LOL.
