Hi Everyone, I am just blown away that it is the end of November. Wasn't it just Nov. 10th and I was having my surgery? Where did this month go? I hope everyone who celebrated enjoyed their Thanksgiving, and now it feels like we're in the mad scramble for Christmas. So let us know how your week is going so far and what you're looking forward to in the near future.

I hope your recovery is going really well. Just don't push it too much. Well, they made the mistake of putting the sausage stuffing and roast Brussel sprouts right where I was sitting for Thanksgiving dinner. Nevertheless, I will be fully recovered and ready for Christmas dinner. It is about time to become proper Winter weather here. Do you know how to tell if a guy was raised in Iowa? You count the pairs of socks in his dresser drawer and the number of flannel shirts hanging in his closet. If there are more flannel shirts than pairs of socks, that fellow is from Iowa!

This was the week to put up some Christmas lights. I put the net lights over my bushes in the front then I have a projection light that plays pictures on my garage. I got a new one this year that has cats, of course. I had a nice ladies luncheon today with a group that meets every year. I want to start wearing my Christmas sweat shirts and sweaters but today it is 14 degrees over the normal at 83. I should get my kayak out and go to the lake.

I got my new oven today! Of course, nothing goes smoothly. They said they would text or call to tell us when they were 30 minutes from our delivery. Well, there was no text or phone call and they showed up just as I was getting ready to leave for physical therapy. So, despite being 15 minutes late to PT, it all worked out. (I called to let them know I'd be late.) My old oven was over 30 years old, so this is a big change. The oven came with THREE owner's manuals, and with so many new bells and whistles, I'm probably going to have to read them all. Heck, I can't even figure out how to change the oven's digital clock without looking it up. It will be great to have an oven that actually holds a constant temperature. Plus it has four different size burners and its own griddle. Best of all, the new oven means Kate and I will be able to bake lots of Christmas cookies.

Well, we're on a roll with appliances. We got our dryer fixed. The original window was for the repairman to arrive between 10am and 2pm. Then it was 2:20pm. Then 2:50pm. Then 3:10pm. Then 3:30p. They finally arrived at 4:10pm. But the dryer got fixed which is what's important. Unfortunately, as my husband drove home last night, the heat went out in his Jeep! If it's not one thing it's another. Unfortunately, there really isn't any money left to get anything else fixed before January, so he's in for a lot of cold driving for the rest of the year.

My husband put the house lights up a couple of weeks ago and put the tree up yesterday. I need to finish decorating it. We also have a wreath with a string of lights hanging outside near the garage door. Simple but nice compared to a street a block away from us. We call it Disneyland, lol. The people on that street always try to outdo each other with house lights, yard characters, and things on the front and roof of their houses. Their electric bills must be astronomical.
Our Thanksgiving was nice. There were just 7 of us. We spent the rest of the holiday weekend dog sitting 2 beagles. They're super sweet but noisy. One is a barker and the others is a howler. They had fun running around the yard and barking at all of the neighbors' dogs. Luckily they stayed out of the pool this time.
I got my new glasses today. It's a good thing since I have to renew my driver license. At least I'll be able to pass the eye test. We have to make appointments to get the new travel ID license, as well as bringing other documents. I suppose it's like that nationwide.

Dawn made six dozen mincemeat tarts yesterday. Of course, I was allowed to 'test eat' one...superb as always! I think that more tarts plus fruit cakes are planned for today based on the grocery shopping list. The various fruits have been 'processing' for a long time. I suppose that it would be embarrassing to be found leaning against a tree somewhere with a smile on your face and crumbles on your chest.

We had a nice week. Our house is all decorated and spruced up for the Holidays. We had a meeting of the minds and decided what cookies we are making this year. We took an afternoon and got all the ingredients we needed. I am Rikki's trusty assistant. I do what she tells me and all goes well We listen to Xmas music and have fun!! I got the car serviced this week and also got my Driver's License renewed.

I was ready to buy new glasses. She told me I am actually back to 20/20 vision and when I get a new license next year I should be able to pass without having to wear glasses. My glasses are too strong so they don't really work as well so I usually take them off. I will still wear glasses at night. How crazy is that? I didn't want to pay for a new license before next year for ID so I just use my passport card. I also discovered this year when I got my DOI card for using the computers for one of my volunteer gigs, that that can also be used as an ID for getting on a plane.
