Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate here in the US. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
We had a nice surprise this year. Because the school knew I was having surgery, they put my family on the list for a pre-cooked Thanksgiving meal from Wegmans Supermarket. Apparently, the local Police Benevolent Association donates a bunch of these certificates to each school in the district so they can distribute them to anyone they think might need them.
We weren't expecting it, and to be honest, I almost turned it down because I didn't feel as though we really needed it when others might. But the guidance counselor from my daughter's school said they just wanted to make things easier during a possibly difficult time and encouraged me to accept.
In the end, I'm really happy I said yes because our oven died! It's very old and the burners still work but the oven will no longer heat up. We have ordered a new one, but it won't arrive until next week. So, it's really great to know we've got this whole meal that's already cooked. Even if we have to reheat some of it, we have the microwave, a large toaster oven, and my Dad can heat some stuff up at his place too.
Now, I'm off to bed so I can get up to watch the parade in the morning.
