I was happy to hear this today. They can put in guns in post production. No need to have any gun that can fire anything for shooting.

I feel so bad for all involved. This is affecting not just the people on set, but their families and friends and is something that will scar them for the rest of their lives.
As a gun owner myself I understand how dangerous they are. My rifle is black powder and thus a single shot, but even after shooting, I always make sure that the gun is never facing anyone but is pointing to the ground. Mr. Baldwin should have had the revolver pointing to the ground when he handled it despite what he'd been told. I always consider any gun I touch as loaded.
What surprised me was that actual guns and live ammunition were allowed on the set. When I was involved in acting, we never allowed real guns on stage, they were always props. I've seen plastic props that look so realistic you would swear they were real guns. And to have live ammo on the set is just irresponsible. It is just a tragic shame that it happened at all, but I am glad that people are learning from this and that real guns will be banned from sets. Nathan and the Rookie are doing a good thing there.
