It's Monday once again. This already feels like a strange week, likely because my family's schedule is so up in the air. Our school system changed start times for all the schools so that they could stagger them more and make better use of the bus drivers they have. I was impressed that her bus arrived within 5 minutes of the new scheduled time this morning. We'll see how this afternoon goes. The afternoon bus had been about 30 minutes late every day. Hopefully, this new schedule will help. My husband's work schedule changed this week too. He's going in earlier, which makes getting ready in the morning a bit of a challenge since we only have one bathroom. But if he has to start commuting to NYC by the end of the month, his schedule will change once again. And he interviewed for a new job, so if he gets that, it's an entirely different schedule. Also, I'm trying to pack up our apartment while getting all of my work done. We have a contractor coming in about two weeks to measure everything, work up a plan for the renovation, and start ordering supplies so they'll have everything they need when they start the reno after the holidays. I look forward to the day when things feel settled once again. So how is your week going? Check in and let us know.

I spent Monday on the Salt River kayaking with a friend. The Salt River Wild horses were out eating grass from the bottom of the river. I have never seen so many horses. We saw groups of 10 to 40 in each group. There was one spot where they were stretched all across the river. We took turns paddling thru the middle of the river. There was one group of 5 swimming along the shore in a deep spot. I am prepping for the start of my camping season. I will be camping next week with one group, the next week will be a regional FMCA Rally at Tucson.

I'm back on line. Laptop was dying when hard drive began failing. That was replaced and everything was transferred to it. So far, seems everything is there and moving quickly. I have no idea what they did; but, it seems to be perfect now. My computer skills are way below adequate. However, I can get it done my way. Remember, the most dangerous thing around is an old guy with a cell phone and a laptop!

Yesterday was my daughter's birthday. She's 12! The last 12 years have flown by. I can't believe she'll be going to college in only six more years. I feel like I have to hold on to every minute.
Kate and her friend took the day off from school and we went to the new Harry Potter store in NYC for the day. They had two virtual reality experiences and we bought tickets for both. (I bought them online a month ago because they completely sell out.) It was a lot of fun. On the first experience we were flying on our brooms over London and fighting Dementors. During the second we were wandering through Hogwarts castle with Dobby and even fought a dragon.
For any Harry Potter fans out there, my daughter got a wand, a Marauder's Map, and a chocolate frog.
We spent the entire day in the store, and then went across the street to Madison Square Park...and this is one of the reasons why I love NYC. There was this big, high-end, fund raising event. There were several large tents, with chefs, some from Michelin-starred restaurants, making Asian inspired meals. It was a fund raiser for Apex For Youth, City Harvest, and Madison Square Park Conservancy. When my husband looked it up online, the lowest donation to get in was $1,000 for a table for four! So, just a tad out of our price range.
But here's why I love NYC. Also in the park is a Shake Shack. So we sat 20 feet away from this high-end event, got to listen to the lovely classical music and people watch while we sat at the outdoor tables eating our burgers, fries, and shakes.
It was a long day, but we had a lot of fun. I still can't believe she's 12!

That Harry Potter store sounds like a lot of fun. I wonder how many generations of kids will get lost in those stories? I read them to my Grandson 20 years ago. We would read at bedtime and also on our car trips. By 3rd grade he was reading them aloud in the car on trips to National Parks in the summer. Glad you had nice weather for your trip.
