So yeah, I completely forgot a new week had started. Although this week hasn't been quite as stressful as last week, it's still been really busy...and it's only Tuesday. Well, it looks like I'll be having my second hip replacement surgery in a little over a month. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he thinks it's necessary. Now I have to wait for the insurance company to approve it and go through their second opinion program. (If you don't go through their second opinion program, you are responsible for an additional $1,000 in medical expenses.) I'm also trying to start packing up our apartment. Even though the renovations won't be happening until January, I won't be able to pack very much in the weeks following my surgery so I better get as much done as I can now. So, how is your week going? Check in and let us know.

We are in the 2nd week of the fridge being on the fritz. Even though we've been able to keep it running fairly well by periodically jiggling the control, I haven't been willing to restock it until it is actually fixed. The repairman called today and said he would replace the part tomorrow. Yay!
I felt so bad over the weekend when my husband opened the fridge and freezer looking for something to eat, but all that was in there was coke, wine, and ice!

I don't blame you for not restocking. No sense risking buying new food on the chance it will all go bad. I hope you get the fridge fixed tomorrow. Living without a working refrigerator isn't fun. And are there any updates on your friend, the sheriff's deputy?

No fridge is hard. I have my RV parked next to the house so I coukd use that in an emergency.
Packing early sounds like a good choice. I hope to work on the garage as soon as we get back into the 70's. I hope to be able to finally find things out there. I know John had everything, I just don't know his system and need to organize it for me.
We are getting many cases of West Nile Virus this year with all of the mosquitos. I tried a new device for my pool party last weekend and they seemed to work well. No one reported a single bite.

Sunday was a rainy, gloomy day with temps hovering around 70*. It was much cooler than normal so I made chili and had the kids over for dinner. We watched football and had a great time. Today we're back to 90*, but more rain is predicted for tomorrow and Thursday.
Our legislature had passed a law last June forbidding mask mandates in school and no questions about vaccination allowed. They stuck this in the budget bill. Luckily a judge ruled it unconstitutional, so now school districts can decide for themselves about mandates. Of course someone will appeal this decision, but hopefully the AZ Supreme Court will let the ruling stand. Schools without mandates are having large Covid outbreaks. Some businesses are requiring masks again. I see no end in sight.

I forgot to mention when I cleaned out the freezer, the oldest stuff was 2 or 3 things from 2016. Frankly I'm surprised there wasn't older stuff. I vacuum seal everything before I put it in there so It's not unusual for us to eat something a couple of years old. It always looks as good as the day I sealed it. No freezer burn or nothing. So that's a little commercial for vacuum sealing. The deputy sheriff is still critical but stable. There was a prayer vigil the other day and there are several fund raising events happening all around 2 or 3 counties. The shooting occurred in a small community that just doesn't see things like that. He was shot by a former town marshal. There is surprisingly little info being shared but I wonder if he was suffering from dementia.

We just got a Covid update from our school system and overall, I think it's fairly positive (and not in a Covid positive way).
Since the school started a little over two weeks ago, we've had 9 positive cases, that's out of about 8,600 staff and students. So that's about 1/10 of a percent. With those 9 cases, there are currently 55 people under quarantine. At my daughter's school, there's been only one case of Covid, but I'm guessing my daughter hasn't been near whoever that is because we haven't been contacted.
I think the state school mask mandate has definitely helped, and we're lucky because our county is one of the most vaccinated in our state. I think about 75% of our county's population is vaccinated.
Also, my daughter can get vaccinated next month, and with any luck, younger kids will start getting vaccinated soon. Fingers crossed that perhaps we can end up with an almost normal school year!

I'm happy your school system is doing well in the Covid fight. I'm so glad I don't have kids in school and our county has a mask mandate for schools so that is helping. I can't believe all the teachers that are dying from Covid in other states especially where so many are anti-vax, anti-mask. It seems that the vaccine mandates are forcing many to get vaccinated or lose their jobs so maybe we will find our way out of this pandemic yet.
