Wow...superb photo and puzzle! As part of a high school southwestern national parks trip escorted by our Biology teacher, we hiked down the South Wall, spent the night at Phantom Ranch, and hiked up the North Wall the next day. The next year was Isle Royale. What memories this photo helps recall.

Another beautiful picture! Here are a few interesting facts: it's 10 miles from the South Rim to the North Rim the way the crow flies; it's 220 miles to drive from the South Rim to the North Rim; the North Rim is 1000 feet higher; fewer people visit the North Rim; both have spectacular views.
Larry, I know that hike isn't easy at any age. Our BIL has done it a few times.

That is a beautiful photo, T...probably the only way I'll ever see the canyon too. Back in 2013 Mrs. G and I headed to AZ to see the canyon and all the sights I'd read about since I was a kid. Then the gov't shutdown hit and everything was closed except for the native canyons. What really got me during the shutdown was that every park employee had to show up for work at the Grand Canyon, to ensure that no one snuck in to see it. We drove up the road to the entrance to take a photo and the employee in the booth called for backup and two vehicles appeared to block the entrance. I felt sorry for those folks, having to show up to work and not be paid.
My own idea about gov't shutdowns? Don't cut funding to the parks, simply stop the House and Senate from getting paid and BAM! Crisis averted in record time!
