Hi All, I hope everyone is doing well this week. Hurricane Henri dumped a whole lot of rain on us, but that was it. No real damage or power outages. There was some flooding and road closures, but it's all the places we'd expect during a big storm so people were ready for it. I think people in New England, and probably out on Long Island, got hit worse. Not much new going on this week. My daughter is waiting to get her school schedule (it should be posted on Wednesday) and we've got a school orientation event on Friday. Other than that, I've got lots of writing to get done, and I'm trying to start packing a few things even though we haven't found a new place to live yet. I figure anything I can get done ahead of time will be helpful in the end. I just saw that Fjordmom checked in recently. How are things going on the farm? And for everyone else how are things where you are? Anything new coming up? Check in and let us know.

I have a good friend who has a house in RI. She came out ok. Power went out when it hit. She lost a couple of tree limbs. She keeps her property in good shape. She has a generator so she still has power. Still working on RV repairs. Nothing major so my new repair guy and his son can do it with their Mobil service. I am still in search of a locking gas cap that will work. I am enjoying my morning swims and aquatic exercises. My wild cat family sit around the pool and watch. I usually feed them when I get out.

Fishing is still fantastic. Largest smallmouth is now 17 1/2 inches and walleye is 25 1/2 inches. Jack is still committed to minnows; and, I remain committed to leeches. Over 100 walleyes again yesterday. We had fried walleye fillets for supper again. Cannot have shore lunch as no open fires are permitted at all. Very light rain for half an hour yesterday. Friends took Dawn out for a day sailing in Baltimore Harbor/Bay. She is an accomplished sailboat sailor. At least our favorite hobbies both involve open water!

Lots of socializing for me this week! Monday I had the quilting gals for lunch and an afternoon of playing MahJongg. We always have a great time together! Tonight we have a couple coming over to play games and then Friday, I have one of my grandsons coming for an official play day. Top on his list of things he wants to do is make a brownie pizza! Twist my arm! He turns 8 on Saturday. He said he'll also bring over some of his new WWII tanks to play with. The past 2 years he's been insatiable when it comes to learning about WWII. He could put most adults to shame with what he knows about it - me for sure! I love spending time with him. Yesterday, we FINALLY got a soaking rain and we have a good shot at more on Thursday and Friday. We desperately need it. We're something like 6 inches below normal and plants and trees are really suffering.

All is well here. I am DELIGHTING in our gift of cooler weather (70 and low humidity) for a couple days...my attitude and energy improve dramatically with cooler weather. We have had temps well into the 90s with high humidity/dewpoints for almost 3 weeks straight...UGH!!!! We have had much hotter/more humid weather than normal this summer and way too much rain...such a shame when there are so many areas that could use it. The hurricane thankfully didn't affect us much here....we had a couple tornado warnings which thankfully dissipated pretty quickly, and MORE TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS but no high wind!!!! The goats are fine, I did get one more kid this year which brings my herd to 6 -- and that's it!!!! My son built them a new shelter for their paddock area (gives them a place to get out of the rain if for some reason I'm not around), they have a new rock pile to climb on and a ramp to get up on the roof of the shelter....they love being up high! My friends from California were here for 3 1/2 weeks after a 2 year hiatus because of COVID. It was wonderful to see them, they are bird and nature lovers like me so bird watching on my porch was a frequent activity. Other than that things are pretty quiet....which is a good thing!

'2021 Great Canada Fishing Adventure' is over and very successful. Reservation for two weeks the end of August 2022 already confirmed. This year's catch: 1,082 walleyes, 6 smallmouth, 37 northern pike, 4 perch, 1 rusty crayfish [discouraging bad news...invasive species reported to DNR and turned in for examination]. We were hoping for more smallmouth but 'had to settle' for amazing success with a lot of walleyes but too many northern pike. I caught an Ontario 'Citation' walleye of 27 1/2 inches the last day! Yes, I was really excited and still am.
