Well, my Mom and step-father's plane finally made it in this morning, so we'll be getting together later on today. It's going to be a busy week, as they have to meet up with the contractor on their new townhouse. Hopefully, the next time they fly out here it will be this fall and they'll be moving in!
And as everyone is vaccinated, we'll be meeting up with some of my aunts and uncles whom I haven't seen in at least a year and a half.
So what does everyone else have planned for this week?

Hey larryholmes, I just read that Canada is opening its borders to fully vaccinated Americans on August 9th! When was that fishing trip you've been planning?

Hi, Absolutely...researching requirements related to proof of vaccination [already have my CDC shots record] and possibly some sort of registration with Canadian officials before arriving at border entry point. If a negative COVID test is needed, I am ready. Nevertheless, this is certainly welcome news! Our border crossing will in accordance our planned date of 12 August with return on 28 August. YAHOO!

Such a strange day here. The smoke from the fires in the west has caused haziness here in NJ! We've had this odd sort of fogginess all day and a red sun. It's just weird.

Same smoke impact here in northwestern Virginia. I tried using possible harmful effects of smoke as a reason to limit yard work. That failed completely. Of course, our recent rain and high temperature have combined to cause explosive weed growth. If only desirable plants would develop as quickly.

Time sure flies. Been busy. Rikki passed her last cancer check-up so can take a 6 month break Now she can get ready for her knee replacement on August 9. We have been busy attending Baseball and Soccer games for the twins. Pete's last game was on Tuesday and his team won the League Championship. Pete had the game winning hit in last game of regular season and he did well in the semifinal and championship game. I'm a proud Gpa!! He has improved a LOT this season. Penney's last game is tonight. She likes playing goalie, but is a better defender and will really mix it up when they attack her side of the field. We are equally proud of the progress she has made this year. LOL, we have seen all the latest movies. We had the twins overnight on the weekend. We played games, ate their favorite foods, and went to lunch and the movies on Saturday. Fun for all. This weekend, we are going down to Milwaukee to celebrate a good friend's retirement and to visit a daughter and granddaughter.

geezer2008, tell Rikki Congrats! I’m so happy to hear about her test results. That’s wonderful news! And it’s so great you’re getting to spend time with your grandkids this summer. It was good to see my Mom and step-father but they had a tough trip. Their flight was canceled twice so they got in two days late. My Mom got bitten by some sort of bug and her foot swelled up. Their rental car kept telling them the rear tire was going flat, even though it wasn’t. And then the airline almost bumped them from their flight back home this morning. But they did get on the plane and are on their way home now. And although construction on their new townhouse has been on schedule, the contractor is worried because the town laid off most of their inspectors last year. Since they didn’t expect there to be a construction boom, they reallocated the funds to other parts of the town budget, which means they don’t have the money to rehire. Now, they’re shorthanded until the next fiscal year, which will likely mean delays getting things properly inspected which may stall construction moving forward. Mom was hoping to be moved in and settled so that she could host Thanksgiving, but I’m just hoping she gets to host Christmas!

I left Wyoming this morning heading to Montana via Idaho. I'm driving around Yellowstone. They have had a series of Quakes under Yellowstone Lake. Good news about Rikki. Hopefully that "C" will stay away. When I hear about the flights being canceled it makes me want to stay home. Now that I know how to do"Boondocking". I will venture out more. I do like to plug in when it is hot. I need to keep more than a 1/4 tank of gas if I want to use the generator.

tycho657, glad you're having such a good trip. Any chance you'll be near Missoula, MT? My sister went to school there (University of Montana) and it's a really nice college town. I've also been to Glacier National Park which is gorgeous. Outside of Missoula is the Lolo Creek Steakhouse in Lolo, MT. I've been there a couple of times, years back, and the steaks were to die for. I've always wanted to go back.
