How is everyone? How was your weekend?
We’ve had our hamster for a week and it feels like she’s been a part of the family much longer. She’s very cute and curious, will take food from your hand, and is a lot of fun to watch.
I FINALLY got a haircut! The last time I got my hair cut was August so it was pretty long and I’d gotten to the point where I just couldn’t deal with it any longer. So I had about 4 inches cut off, which means the length ends just under my chin. I really love it; it’s nice to have shorter hair for the summer.
And today I’m headed to the dentist and I’m more than a little nervous. It’s been a year since my last dental checkup. Wish me luck that there’s nothing too terribly wrong or expensive because I’m still paying off my surgery from January!
I can’t believe this is my daughter’s last full week of school. What a year it’s been.
So how is your week going so far?

I've had 3 haircuts in the last year and a half. My hair grows pretty fast and it quickly got past shoulder length. I've decided I really like it long so I'm just getting the split ends trimmed off to keep it about the same. I feel like I'm in my 2nd childhood. It's not too different from how I wore it when I was a teenager. I don't care. I'm going to enjoy it as long as it's fun for me.
My husband had a shoulder replacement back in April. He probably won't go back to work for another couple weeks (he's loved being off work). It was total immobility for 6 weeks but now he's able to do a little with it. He just went for his 1st drive. I hope it works out well for him. So far so good.

Suns fever has taken over! After ousting the Lakers and sweeping the Nuggets, we're looking forward to the next series. Luckily the team will have at least a week off to rest and nurse any bumps and bruises. We haven't been in the playoffs since 2010, so this is very exciting. Our baseball team stinks so it's good to have one team worth cheering.
Summer temperatures have arrived. We'll be in the 112 to 118 range all week, and are under an excessive heat warning through the weekend. At least the pool has warmed up since the night time lows have been in the upper 80s.
Most businesses are no longer requiring masks for people fully vaccinated and encouraging the ones not vaccinated to wear a mask. It's hard to tell how honest people will be about that. We go to the grocery store, Costco, and a couple other places. There's not a whole lot happening now. It's too hot to be out and about in the afternoon.

My kitties and I are escaping to the mountains this week. I'm at 7700ft elevation so we only get to low 90's in the afternoon and beautiful 60's at night. My kitties enjoy watching nature abd its sounds in the morning thru the screen door. One of my kayaking friends arrives tomorrow. There should be 4 or 5 people who will kayak with us on one of tge lakes up here.

The kayaking sounds lovely. I've never kayaked but my Dad goes all the time, either on the river near us or to the large lake/resovior about 30 minutes away.
But here everyone is either headed down the shore this weekend or to the mountains to go camping. That is one of the upsides of living in central NJ that most people outside of this area don't realize. You can get to a lot of different things in about an hours drive: the beach, the Pocono mountains, farmland, New York City, etc. Or you can head to Philadelphia which is about 1 & 1/2 hours as long as you can avoid the traffic. Don't ask me why but most times the traffic getting to Philly is worse than the traffic to NYC!
