Okay, who saw it? Who's willing to talk about it?
I'm still reeling.

That was crazy the last 30 secondsšš what happened to Toby? Why is the Brit, Phillip, from Kateās job going to be the brother-in-law? I was actually ok with Kevin not being able to say he loved Madison and being honest with her. Maybe by now he has come around to realize that he does love her? Married or not Madison will forever be in the Pearson family since she has 2 kids who are Pearsonās. The guy who plays Phillip was on āA Million Little Thingsā this year also. The show runner said he had 6 seasons planed out. I guess he knew where he was going. We will have to wait and see what next year brings.
Why do these shows never want to give us a wedding that actually finishes. I think people want to feel good sometimes and not stress out waiting.

I just finished watching the finale. My daughter told me about an article in Entertainment Weekly that explains a lot about the finale. I'm in the middle of reading it and there are spoilers. Plot twists that I didn't expect. There will be lots to discuss after others here have read the article.

As much as I was looking forward to this wedding, I was happy that Madison stood her ground and decided she deserved to be loved. I think Kevin does love her, but being that they only came together because she got pregnant makes them both question their feelings.
Iām hoping that Kevin realizes he loves Madison even though they didnāt come together like the great love story that was his parents. I want to see him win Madison back because I think they make a great couple. They seemed pretty close in that fast-forward so Iām hoping thatās a good sign.
Yes, the actor, Chris Geere, who plays Philip also played Jamie on A Million Little Things, and I was really hoping to see Jamie return to that show, but from the interviews it sounds like weāre going to be seeing a lot more of him next season on This Is Us.
It was sad because Kate and Toby ended this episode on such a high note but it seems like the long-distance thing wonāt work out for them. Theyāve always had communication issues so I guess it shouldnāt be a surprise that this might only make it worse. I am curious to see how that all plays out.
Anyway, Dan Fogelman, the show creator says weāll get lots of answers next season, but the show wonāt be returning until January so weāve got quite a while to wait!

I watched it live and was not surprised that the wedding never happened. I would have been OK either way but only if Kevin had actually said that he loved Madison. I, too, hope they end up getting married next season - for all the right reasons.
It's so ironic that the last few seconds revealed that Kate and Toby end up divorced because that scene where they talk after she tried to resign for his sake, was one of the best we've had with them in a while. Seems like they've been having a rough go of it for quite some time and I finally felt they were on the same page in that scene. Oh well! I'm sure curious to see just how Kate and Phillip end up getting married but it did seem that everyone was happy and excited for them.
I admire Fogleman for standing his ground and making next season the last one. I think he had a brilliant vision for this intricately woven story and I'm glad we'll see it finished the way he wanted it to end. There certainly is a lot of ground to cover in one more season but it will be delightful to get to see the episodes with little or no interruption.
That interview with Fogleman also revealed that Jon Huertas - Miguel - would be getting more time in the last season. He was described as an unsung hero in many ways and I've always felt that he was getting the short end of the stick with the Pearsons. I look forward to what Jon will do with the part!
